Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller has now confirmed that he is planning a Furiosa-centric prequel that'll focus on a younger incarnation of the one-armed warrior before she became Immortan Joe's most feared Imperator. The filmmaker also revealed that Charlize Theron would not be reprising the role, and that he was currently searching for a younger actress to take the lead.
Back in March, a rumor did the rounds that Jodie Comer might be in line to play Furiosa, and THR has now confirmed that the Killing Eve breakout is indeed in the running - although they don't provide any further details.
A separate rumor recently suggested that The New Mutants star Anya Taylor-Joy was also in contention for the part, while Eternals actor Richard Madden was said to be wanted for a role that's described as "a breathtakingly handsome man with an angel’s face that is scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples."
The Furiosa spinoff is only in a very early stages of development (Miller has yet to begin shooting Three Thousand Years of Longing with Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba), so we're probably going to be waiting a while for official casting news.
What do you guys think? Could you see Comer as a young Furiosa? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
