Mad Max: Fury Road has once again been making headlines lately, especially after Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron finally opened up about their on-set feud The 2015 movie was a soft reboot for the series, with the Venom star taking over from Mel Gibson after he was taken out of the running to return as Max, and Theron bringing the now fan-favourite Furiosa to life.

Anya Taylor-Joy is set to pick up where she left off in an upcoming prequel, but it's no secret that Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ruth Negga, and Gal Gadot were among those considered for Furiosa alongside Theron.

Now, thanks to Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The While & True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road author Kyle Buchanan (via SFFGazette.com), we have some behind the scenes photos from Gadot's Furiosa audition. It sounds like she came extremely close to nabbing the role, but don't feel too sorry for the actress, as she's found plenty of success after being cast in Batman v Superman as Wonder Woman!

There's also a cool shot of The Batman star Zoë Kravitz (who ultimately played Toast The Knowing) and some photos of Hardy and Theron - prior to falling out - along with Nicholas Hoult.

Gal is beautiful. I loved Charlize in the devil’s advocate.

I’m 39 now so I wouldn’t date her, it’s revered for some reason, can anyone explain?

I don't know much about this guy but he's sure making the most of his 15 minutes..

I wonder if it will be easier or harder for him to continue working in the industry now.

I'm glad Charlize ended up with the role. Gal's acting has improved over the years, but I think Charlize really sold the agony and despair that Furiosa was going through. Ultimately, Fury Road was Furiosa's movie and Max was along for the ride. Furiosa needed to be as iconic as Max and Charlize made her just that.

I love Gal, but...lol, no.

Anyway, this book seems pretty interesting, they keep saying filming this movie was "hell", so it will be interesting to read and see more BTS stuff.

Btw, Tom Hardy aged...A LOT.

If someone screams the COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF FURIOSA it’s Gal Gadot

I’m sure someone figured, “well, Gadot was in the Fast & Furious films; it’s only right we consider her for the vehicular mayhem of Fury Road.”

Furiosa, along with the five wives and the vuvalini were without a doubt some of the best female characters to be written imo, and not that awards mean anything but Charlize Theron was truly snubbed by every major award shows that year.

Idk how close she came to getting that role but Gal Gadot for me is a “servicable” actor. Not that great, not that bad.

Tom Hardy was an insufferable prick to Charlize Theron during shooting. He was never on time in the morning and sometimes more than 3 hours late. The two did not want to touch each other, they didn’t want to look at each other, they wouldn’t face each other if the camera wasn’t rolling. They hated working together. Hardy was agressive and Theron even said that she was in "survival mode" and really "scared shitless".
