MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Gets A "Best Picture" Nod In This Year's Oscar Nominations

Star Wars: The Force Awakens may not have scored a Best Picture nod, but the nominations received by Mad Max: Fury Road more than make up for that!

Mad Max: Fury Road scored a total of 10 nominations when the nominees for this year's Academy Awards were announced earlier today, but it's The Revenant which leads the pack with 12. The Martian had 7 despite there being no mention of Sir Ridley Scott, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens received 5, even though it failed to land a Best Picture nod. As per usual, there are a lot of omissions (Carol, Straight Outta Compton, The Hateful Eight) and some very surprising inclusions (no one predicted Michael Fassbender getting a nod for Steve Jobs, even though it is well deserved). Check out the full list below, and let us know your thoughts on them all in the usual place.

Honestly believe The Martian is a much better film than The Revanent. And Damon deserves Best Actor over Leo.

You could've kicked JLAW out of the best actress cateogry and put Vikander in there. She was masterful in Ex Machina.

Saw The Revenant. This is Leo's year. He fully took on the role both physically, mentally and emotionally.

Spotlight >>>>>>>>>> Mad Max > The Martian > The Big Short > The Revenant

Haven't seen Room, Brooklyn or Bridge of Spies yet, but seriously, Spotlight was so much better than the others, it's not even close.

@ Jollem

That scene he did with the dead horse seemed like his "What else do I have to do to win" cry to the Academy Awards voters.

@Indoorsman I agree Charlize was robbed. I've seen all the best actress performances except for Charlotte Rampling and Furiosa slayed the other characters. Charlize's performance slayed the other actresses.
