With a little over a month to go, Apple TV+ and Paramount Pictures have released a brand new trailer and a pair of posters for Martin Scorsese's upcoming Western crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, giving us another incredible preview at his upcoming epic Western crime drama film, which stars Academy Award-winner Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street; Inception) and Lily Gladstone (Reservation Dogs; Billions) in the lead roles.
The true story follows the improbable romance between Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), while telling the tragic tale of the devastating betrayal of the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight when they discovered oil on their land. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder.
While it was initially slated for a limited theatrical release in early October, the critically acclaimed film will now receive a global theatrical rollout on October 20, which will include a cannot-be-missed IMAX launch. Reviews have been exceptional following its Cannes premiere earlier this year (97% on review aggregator RottenTomatoes), so the film could be a major box office player this coming Fall, especially with many major releases moving into 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
In addition to DiCaprio and Gladstone, the supporting cast consists of Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbot Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepard, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Gary Basaraba, Steve Eastin, Barry Corbin, Katherine Willis, Gene Jones, Jack White, and Larry Fessenden.
Killers of the Flower Moon is set to hit theaters on October 20, and will be released on Apple TV+ later this year.
