With a little over a month to go, Apple TV+ and Paramount Pictures have released a brand new trailer and a pair of posters for Martin Scorsese's upcoming Western crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon, giving us another incredible preview at his upcoming epic Western crime drama film, which stars Academy Award-winner Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall StreetInception) and Lily Gladstone (Reservation DogsBillions) in the lead roles.

The true story follows the improbable romance between Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), while telling the tragic tale of the devastating betrayal of the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight when they discovered oil on their land. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder.

While it was initially slated for a limited theatrical release in early October, the critically acclaimed film will now receive a global theatrical rollout on October 20, which will include a cannot-be-missed IMAX launch. Reviews have been exceptional following its Cannes premiere earlier this year (97% on review aggregator RottenTomatoes), so the film could be a major box office player this coming Fall, especially with many major releases moving into 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

In addition to DiCaprio and Gladstone, the supporting cast consists of Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbot Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepard, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Gary Basaraba, Steve Eastin, Barry Corbin, Katherine Willis, Gene Jones, Jack White, and Larry Fessenden.

Killers of the Flower Moon is set to hit theaters on October 20, and will be released on Apple TV+ later this year.

Check out the final trailer below:

At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

Hailing from Apple Studios, “Killers of the Flower Moon” was produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Producers are Martin Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Sommer, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers.

This looks f*cking great. Will be the next movie I see in theaters. Won't be as good as Oppenheimer or MI DR Part I imo but this should be a true classic

It's sad I'm reading a lot of comments about Scorsese going "woke".

@CoHost - Wha-?

Is he prominently featuring a character who isn't a straight, white male?
EgoEgor

@CoHost - "woke" and "forced diversity" nonsense is just a trojan horse for racist people to spew racist ideology and suck in people into believing it without realize it's racist trojan.

If people start saying "woke" or "forced diversity" to my face, haven't had it yet, but I would instantly not take them seriously. Movies should be criticized on merit; writing, acting, directing, cinematography, editing, sound, etc; you know, shit that actually speaks to the quality of a film. Everything in this trailer looks like the embodiment of the chefs kiss.

What is the comic book movie connection here? Scorsese?
EgoEgor

@tylerzero - Scorsese makes movies and comic book movies are also movies. Pretty obvious connection.

"Man, I loved the comic, Scorsese is nailing" - said a version of be in another universe where this is comic book movie news.

Snark aside, this movie looks amazing.

I think had my fill of white saviour movies with The Great Wall thanks. No more for me.

Shivermetimbers - 9/14/2023, 10:32 AM
@ObserverIO - I hope this is sarcasm, otherwise its just plain idiotic. You clearly dont know anything about this story, which just so happens to be based on real life people andis certainly not a "white savior" story.
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 9/14/2023, 11:34 AM
@Shivermetimbers - How so?
Shivermetimbers
Shivermetimbers - 9/14/2023, 2:01 PM
@ObserverIO - I don’t want to go into spoilers, but maybe wait to see it before judging it as a white savior story just because there is a white guy married to the native woman. There have even been articles written specifically about the movie NOT being what you say it is. https://www.thewrap.com/osage-elder-praises-scorsese-flower-moon-cannes/
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 9/14/2023, 2:29 PM
@Shivermetimbers - Maybe I'm judging it too much from the trailer, but it does look like DiCaprio is the hero of the piece. He's the one frustrated because he's trying to save the tribe of a woman he's married. In the trailers at least. Maybe the real story is completely different.

But even so, couldn't they have a Native American be the lead?
Shivermetimbers
Shivermetimbers - 9/14/2023, 6:09 PM
@ObserverIO - I mean, the characters are based on actual people. The guy he’s playing is a white guy. I guess I can see your point though. Like, why not tell the story from a different lens?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 9/14/2023, 6:43 PM
@Shivermetimbers - yeah, basically.

At least it has a fairly reliable director at the helm, so it might be so good that I no longer care about such things. Who knows? Still not a cinema watch for me, though I will catch it at some point I'm sure.
