JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Henry Cavill Joins Tom Cruise In MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill has landed a key role in a franchise away from the DC Films Universe as he's set to join Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible 6.
Variety reveals that Man of Steel's Henry Cavill will join Tom Cruise in the upcoming sixth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise. No specifics have been revealed on who he will play, the trade mentions that the British actor will likely play "some sort of right hand to the head of the Cruise’s unit." Whether or not that means he'll see any action here obviously remains to be seen.
Similar roles have been taken on by the likes of Alec Baldwin, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Fishburne, and Tom Wilkinson in previous installments, though Cavill is obviously the youngest to date.
Apparently, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner are all also expected to join Cruise and Cavill, while Christopher McQuarrie is set to take the helm of the Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation follow-up from a script he wrote. Are you excited to see Cavill take on a major role away from Superman? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
UPDATE: It looks like Cavill will be playing the villain of the picture, as per his manager Dany Garcia:
