Disney+ (via ActionNewz.com) has shared a new look at its upcoming National Treasure spin-off series, now officially titled National Treasure: Edge of History, via a promo poster spotlighting the main cast members. The streamer has also announced that the show is set to premiere on December 14.

Edge of History will star Lisette Alexis as lead protagonist Jess Morales, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Entrapment, High Fidelity) as her mentor Billie.

The latter is described as "a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert, and treasure hunter who lives by her own code." "She transformed herself from a penniless orphan to a shrewd, stylish businesswoman and adventurer," the breakdown continues. "Billie's used to getting what she wants — and she wants the Pan-American treasure. But not just for the money. This treasure has deeper stakes for her."

Jess, meanwhile, is "a 20-year-old Dreamer who sets off on an adventure to recover lost Pan-American treasure, unearthing shocking secrets about her family’s past in the process."

Check out the new poster at the link below.

The show will also feature Zuri Reed (Flatbush Misdemeanors) as Tasha, Jordan Rodrigues (Lady Bird) as Ethan, Antonio Cipriano (Broadway's Jagged Little Pill) as Oren, and Jake Austin Walker (Rectify) as Liam.

The National Treasure series is (loosely) based on the big-screen adventures starring Nicolas Cage, but his character Benjamin Franklin Gates is not expected to appear. We do know that Harvey Keitel will reprise his role as Peter Sadusky, with Justin Bartha set to return as Riley Poole for a cameo.

Mira Nair is directing, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing alongside Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Rick Muirragui, Jon Turteltaub.

So her mentor is not Nicholas Cage? Nope

I had a concept for Cage to have a daughter who grew up learning from Cage and his wife like Cage learned from his father.

Then you would have an organic female in the role.

Nope. Disney and their identity politics checklist has to not only have a woman but has to check the box making her a minority.
And then having her mentor be a womb as well.

If they did it organically and passed the torch to Cage’s daughter then it wo up don’t even be an issue.
But it’s all agenda driven now.

This just sounds basically like the Librarian series but without the fun magic. And Nick Cage was the reason to watch the movies, this is like a random Indiana Jones series about some random teacher that also explores. Doesn't sound very interesting at all as part of the movie universe. Maybe if it was it's own thing it would have been more exciting.

And cue another "reimagining" of a beloved IP where they replace all the known characters with brand new ones, meaning it's literally only the franchise in name only.

Oh, and make the leads female. That way if anyone has a problem with our sh!t story, we can call the misogynistic.
