When a terrorist bombing destroys the Kremlin, the United States government initiates a black ops "ghost protocol" and disavows the entire Impossible Mission Force. Ethan Hunt and his team are to be blamed for the attack, but are allowed to escape as part of a plan to enable them to operate in the dark, outside of their agency. However, Hunt is warned that if any member of his team is captured during their mission, they will be charged as terrorists planning to incite global nuclear war. Ethan is then forced to work with ex-IMF agent Brandt, who knows more about Hunt and his past than even Hunt himself.

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol hits IMAX theaters on December 16th, 2011!

@m1312020- Yeah , I heard he was clamoring for the role. Can you imagine if this tool got it?
Sh**, the franchise would have been dead day one.

@headlopper agreed. i could never see Tom up for that role. it'd be a catastrophic decision.

Cruise is awesome.

True, he's kind of a nutcase with the Scientology, Brooke Shields bashing and of course, the totally batshit Oprah episode but you can't deny that the guy has tons of charisma and is fun to watch.

I mean, this is Les f*cking Grossman, we're talking about here!

All that aside, I'm really interested to see Brad Bird's first live action outing...

@HBAIT-Hey, he owns a production company and knows that CBM's are trending currently- making BILLIONS- but doesn't OWN property rights to any CB characters, so he's stuck trying to manufacture his OWN heroes to stay cinematically relevant. He sickens me- he's a phuque-ing tool

@nordberg yeah that's going to be the only reason why im going to watch this movie. im doing it for Brad Bird. love that director.

@headlopper i feel ya bro, but hell only time will tell whether or not he's going to pop up in one of our beloved comic book adaptations. :P

This dude is irrelevant. His glory days have past.
Jeff Bridges? Old school but great actor.
Clint Eastwood? Real old school, but still deserves respect.
Will Smith? Always welcome!
This guy's an ego-driven prick from the 80's. Phuque him!

Just think, if Tom Cruise had been in the Helicoptor with Stevie Ray Vaughn, he'd be remembered as one of the greatest actors ever.

Too bad...

@yossarian

You question whether he's ever been in a good movie and offer up the gay bromance cheesefest Top Gun as the lone example? Really??

How about:
Tropic Thunder
Collateral
The Last Samurai
Vanilla Sky
Magnolia
Jerry Maguire
The Firm
A Few Good Men
Born on the Fourth of July
Rain Man
The Color of Money
Risky Business
Taps

To name a few.

I totally understand why people love to hate on him from a personality standpoint but to say he's not a good actor or hasn't ever been in a good movie is ridiculous and short-sighted.

You guys can trash Tom Cruise all you want, but you know that he is the best viable option to take a spin in the Batmobile when Bale is done. Once he does no one will be able to better him. He does all his own stunts and puts every once of energy he has into every role he takes on.

There is a reason he has stayed relevant for so long, abiding his time in smaller roles, waiting for the day Warners makes the call onto the red phone to say...it's time, Mr. Wayne!
