Is it based on the comic? Is this going to be a Marvel movie?

I don't know if I'll check this out or not. I thought the '93 film with Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Oliver Platt was a good movie and still fun to watch.

I'll be totally checking this out!!! I love those three [frick]ers and can't wait to see Mads as Rochefort :))

Pitty Tim Curry can't be the cardinal again. He was the absolute best part of the first film. And that film still is one of my all time favorites to this day ;)

supersayianfan1- If they use the same Man in the Iron Mask as in the Anime Series, then YES, TOTALLY, THAT would most definitely be awesome :))

I thought the '93 flick was garbage. The two films with Oliver Reed, Michael York, and Christopher Lee were brilliant, faithful adaptations of the Dumas novel. Charleton Heston was inspired as Cardinal Richlieu. Not sure how faithful to the source novel this new version will be, but I'm open to a new generation of film musketeers. Some characters deserve a fresh take every decade or so. Personally, I think it's time for a solid adaptation of Dracula, minus Coppola's Emo take.

Looks ok! Movie cant go too much wrong if the main baddie´s are played by Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen!:)... Althought i hope so?
Waltz is Cardinal Richelieu and Mikkelsen is his right hand man Rochefort!

If you're worried about the lack of comicbookness this film exudes just remember we are getting The Warriors Three in Thor who are essentially based on them.

Volstag = Porthos (literally in this case as it's the same actor)
Fandrall = Aramis
And Hogun = Athos

looks promising. I really like Ray Stevenson, he was awesome on Rome and was by far the best Punisher to date.

Ahh, Paul W.S. Anderson. The man who brought us such masterpieces as "Mortal Kombat," "Event Horizon," "Resident Evil," "Alien vs. Predator" and "Death Race." I ask you, is there anyone else you would rather have bringing Dumas's masterpiece to the screen?

Of course not.

ok, JackBauer, you've shown your extreme lack of taste. I don't normally take someone to task until they target me, but the Sheen/Sutherland/O'Donnell/Platt version of the Musqueteers was the 2nd worst musqueteer movie ever made (the worst being "The Musqueteer" with all that weird chinese fighting). I love the book, it's one of my favorites and the Salkynd version from the 70's still holds up as the best film version of Dumas' tale.

@Kerry67 I agree. There is almost no chance in hell any Musketeer flicks can top Richard Lester's versions. While I enjoyed the Disney one and MitIM, they just were not as much fun.

However with villains played by Waltz and Mads it sure has a shot to be entertaining. Mads as Rochefort is brilliant casting. And while I like Stevenson, filling Reed's shoes is going to be tough as hell.

@Vital. I take it you have never seen Richard Lester's the Three Musketeers or Milady's Revenge? While the 3rd Lester film was so-so those two are way more entertaining. Plus Raquel Welch...ugh...drool.

I burned my copy of the Sheen/O'Donnell version in my fireplace immediately after watching it (much to my wife's horror). I spent the next three weeks reading the book to her just to explain my actions.
