While we may have seen a couple of photos from the latest installment of the classic action franchise over the past few months, Lionsgate had yet to announce an exact release date for Rambo: Last Blood. Instead, all we knew for certain was that the Sylvester Stallone-starrer would hit theaters sometime this fall.

Fortunately, after much speculation from fans, the studio has finally revealed that John Rambo will be jumping into action once again on September 20.

According to the official logline for Rambo: Last Blood, the movie will pick up after the events of the last film and will see the legendary veteran peacefully living in Arizona. However, following the kidnapping of his friend's daughter by a violent cartel, he'll take up arms for one last fight.

Aside from seeing Stallone return to play the iconic character, the Adrian Goldberg-helmed film also stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Yvette Monreal.

I have a spectacular idea for another Rambo movie. Rambo wakes up 2000 years in the future because he was cryogenically frozen by this top secret agency. He finds out he was the never the original Rambo and there have been many clones of him throughout history created by this agency which have all died. He is the last remaining Rambo clone, until someone that looks like a much younger version of himself goes on a total rampage. He must stop this version of himself and discover the truth of what makes him really unstoppable.

As long as it's not nearly as brutal as Rambo was, I'm all in.

Rambo just always brings me back to my childhood. He felt like that era’s Iron Man or Luke Skywalker, the biggest coolest movie hero there was.

I really hope this movie is good. It's going to be hard seeing Stallone say goodbye to one more of his long standing characters.

Stallone's a childhood hero of mine. Watched Creed II again last weekend, I cried like a baby.
