Latino Review is reporting that Simon West - director of films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and the 2010 The Mechanic - has signed on to direct the sequel to last year's The Expendables. Below is what they have to say...

The sequel has been in development for awhile, and it's about time that a worthy director takes the reigns on this production. In comes Simon West ("The Mechanic") who just signed up to direct "The Expendables 2."

There's no definite word on what "The Expendables 2" will be centering on but principal photography will begin this summertime.

Starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Terry Crews, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren, The Expendables 2 will hit theaters August 17th, 2012!

He will do! Stallone is the producer so basically he is still in charge.

Cool! I'm excited to see what new action stars will join in. And in the plot synopsis, it mentions that Tool now has a daughter. It would be epic if she was played by Michelle Rodriguez

As long as Stallone doesn't write the story. The first one's story was horrid. Freakin' mindless chaos 'most' of the time. Get a screenwriter with some logic and this movie could be perfect.

I am glad for one. Stallone did a horrible job filming the fight scenes. He wanted close ups when good fight scenes have it where you can see the whole movement. Unless the actor can't fight then you need to film up close. Jet Li and Jason Statham can fight so I hope that he will do a better job and Stallone can just produce and act. ;)

If Schwarzenegger aint in this, I'll be severely pissed off. He needs to know he has legions of fans that are still awaiting his return and most if not all of his fans will be seeing "Expendables 2" so it would seem logical for him to return.

He's the main one i want in the film. Bruce Willis is awesome too though, he's my 2nd favorite action-star right after Arnold.
