We've seen numerous takes on The Three Musketeers over the years, but this latest adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' classic is shaping up to be the most faithful and authentic retelling yet.

Pathe has debuted the first trailer for The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan, which will serve as Part 1 of a two-film story set to conclude with The Three Musketeers: Milady.

The action-packed teaser introduces Charles D'Artagnan, a young swordsman in 1697 France who longs to join the King's elite military force and become a renowned Musketeer. He travels to Paris where he befriends three of the King's most famed and feared warriors - Potrhos, Athos and Aramis - and falls foul of the political machinations of the sinister Cardinal Richelieu and mysterious Milady de Winter.

Check out the trailer below along with a poster, and let us know what you think.

The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan

"From the Louvre to Buckingham Palace, to the gutters of Paris to the siege of La Rochelle… In a kingdom divided by religious wars and under threat of British invasion, a handful of men and women will cross swords and tie their fate to that of France."

D'Artagnan stars François Civil as D'Artagnan, Vincent Cassel as Athos, Romain Duris as Aramis, Pio Marmaï as Porthos, with Eva Green as Milady. The movie is set to release in France on April 5, 2023, but no U.S. dates have been announced.

How Eva Green isn't The Macy's version of Enchantress is a crime in itself. Also that she's not in alot of films either. Get casting Hollywood!

I'm a sucker for a three musketeers film. The 90s movie was one of my favorites as a kid.

Looks really good! Made me wish it was in English for the USA audience, but oh well. I prefer not to read subtitles, but the movie looks good so I might as well give it a watch.

@Shivermetimbers - a lot of dubs are rather cringe, so I'd rather just deal with subtitles personally.
Brotherhood of the Wolf (which Cassel is also in) is awesome but I can't say I'm wild about the dub. Even with its length, I'd rather watch it in French with subtitles

@Slotherin - Yes, I don't like dubs either. I guess I should have said I wish it were an english language film. That said, there is something better about a film when it is set in a specific region, to have that native language be the one used in the film. Subtitles arent too bad.

@Shivermetimbers - I should specify myself as well. I think dubs can be done well, but unfortunately often aren't
