Time for a Younger 007?

Time for a Younger 007?

Are Daniel Craig's days as James Bond numbered? That's the thought in this video report regarding the new novel scheduled for next year that will feature a younger, edgier 007.

This certainly isn't the feeling of EON Productions, which has been very clear that Daniel Craig remains James Bond as far as it's concerned. Given the success of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, that's hardly surprising.

I wish this wont happen,Daniel Craig is the best James Bond yet! Nobody can replace him! Sources say that Sam Worrington has audition and was the first choice to be James Bond in the first place before Craig came in...

Haven't they been looking at Chris Pine to be a new younger Bond??? I'm sure i read that somewhere a while back...

As I noted in the posting, I don't think they are replacing Craig. The Bond in a new series of novels is definitely going to be a younger man, but I think the producers recognize they've got lightning in a bottle with Craig. I thought others were great, but next to Connery, nobody is better... and if I hadn't been raised on Connery, Craig might get the edge.

Eric Bana, Hugh Jackman, James Purefoy, Goran Višnjić, Julian McMahon, Gerard Butler, and Clive Owen, to many unknown actors from a number of different countries, including Sam Worthington, Alex O'Loughlin, and Rupert Friend that was listed as James Bond before Daniel Craig was listed as James Bond.

I remember long time ago back when Pierce Brosnan was still Bond, there were strong rumors that the movie studio was indeed going torwards the young James Bond direction and it wouldve had Batman Begins feel to it, having James Bond getting trained and all. And the actor they had in mind back then was a young Jude Law.

Please do not turn James Bond in one of these brooding young vampire non acting a..holes. James Bond is a man of the world. Not a boy trying to be a man.

A younger James Bond? [frick] that. I wont be reading this insult to the classic Fleming novels, that's for sure! Good find ED! :)

I have to admitI wasn't too happy when they announced that Craig was going to b the next bond. But just after the opening scene of "casino royal" when he was cahing the bomb maker i was chilling in the front seat of the Craig bandwagon. Don't give me wrong I loved Brosnan. They should just stick with Craig, but I need more gadgets though. By the way nobaby can touch Connery and Moore as bond...NOBODY!!!!!!!!!
is dalton stil alive????

no keep daniel craig. the novels and movies can be two seperate entities. craig's bond has been the best one yet(imop). to start with a younger bond, will be like restarting the franchise, and personally i am tired of that. its like hollywood is running out of original ideas! oops wait they are.

AlexDeLarge87 - 11/5/2010, 6:15 AM
Nooooo! At least let him finish the third movie! And then when his story is ended, then bring in the younger Bond if you like!

Craig is a very good Bond. Moore was superior at playing the suave ladies man, but Craig is far superior on the action/tough guy side. Connery really was the perfect mix. I wish Jason Issacs had gotten a shot a Bond when he was younger. I think he really could have nailed it.

Craig's bond is as young as Bond ever needs to be. Bond is a guy who has to have some life experience before the big adventures really start. Although, it might be interesting to see some of this time in the British navy before he was with MI6.

Daniel Craig isn't edgy? Must've watched Casino Royale blindfolded. Best Bond movie I've ever seen.

I think to change the formula up a bit, in the next movie Bond should seduce the bad guy and kill the girl.
MassExecutions

Or seduce both and kill both.

teppy1954 - 11/5/2010, 6:41 AM
Dammit-let Bond be Bond. The new films are edgier, and Craig is a pretty damn good Bond. Not Connery but better than Moore, Dalton and slightly better than Brosnan.

The only time to re-cast is when he shows his age, which is probably in the next 5 years

Craig can't pull off a classy, sophisticated Bond, he looks like old beat up fisherman, not a handsome, womanizing spy. lol

RorMachine@ I love that idea.
Or just end the Bond movies all together.

i know alot of people were very skeptical about Craig when he was cast as the new bond, but i honestly think he's one of, if not, the best bond yet.
FutureCBMHero
FutureCBMHero - 11/5/2010, 7:14 AM
I dig Craig as an actor and as Bond. Stick with him for up to 2 more films and then go separate ways.

IMO Brosnan could have been the best if everything after Goldeneye wasn't garbage. But even saying that, I'd probably turn on it and Connery was the best.
BLADE4040
BLADE4040 - 11/5/2010, 7:17 AM
I never cared for the BOND movies really
not until CRAIG!!! Connery was decent but
he was soft looking Craig has that edge.

SuperPowered: I understand what your saying
about CRAIG'S look, but there's plenty of men
in power that doesnt look classy or sophisticated.

They still manage to get the job done and score with
the ladies... women care more about power and wealth
than looks. Craig comes across as in control(women love that)
and he looks and acts as if he's actually trained for the role.
Not just a face who cant pull off anything
else...especially in the dept. of fighting and killing!

A year ago I would have loved this, not now though. Craig has grown on me. I want him to do two more films. When they cast Craig they did it because the other options they thought were too young.
Vafrous
Vafrous - 11/5/2010, 7:31 AM
In my opinion the best Bonds where Craig, Dalton and Brosnan...
Connery looked like he combed and oiled his chest hair,he had a cool accent...
GrimeKid
GrimeKid - 11/5/2010, 7:33 AM
My dream is for Idris Elba to be da new BOND in a few years. I think he'll be great.
(dont start hating cos I chose a black actor. BOND switches faces all da time)
GrimeKid
GrimeKid - 11/5/2010, 7:44 AM
But I do also think D Craig should do a couple more films before they end his run
BLADE4040
BLADE4040 - 11/5/2010, 7:49 AM
While we're at it lets make Tom Cruise
SHAFT they've changed him a few times also.
Tom was decent in the Mission Impossible
movies so SHAFT shouldnt be too tough for
him to pull off.

Come on 01carterg why would they do that?

not a bond fan liked the spy who loved me,goldeneye, casino royale & quantum of solace.

but thats it couldn't give a shit if they change him or not.

i will say no to "twilight 007" though,it would kill the bond franchise.
