Will Smith Offers Up An Update On HANCOCK 2; Josh Brolin Comments On OLDBOY Remake

Talking to MTV Splash Page at the US press junket for Men in Black 3 (released April 25th), both Will Smith and Josh Brolin were asked about two other projects they're attached to. For Smith, that's a sequel to Peter Berg's Hancock, while Brolin was quizzed on his role in the planned remake of Oldboy from director Spike Lee. As you can see below, their responses differ greatly and with the one project no more than a rumour while the other begins filming in October, it's pretty obvious which we'll see first! Check out the interviews below and be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

"This is a world where entertainment is consumed on so many different levels that sequels and all those ancillary products and that stuff are always in the working. There are so many outlets now that need to be filled, so I think that producers are always discussing those things. It's something I would be interested in. But it's not actually in the works as of yet."

A lot of people are bringing it up, which I love. Chan-wook Park’s version was, his original version of 'Oldboy' was fantastic. And I emailed him recently, and asked him for his blessing, that we do our version of the movie. And he was absolutely for it, actually really kind of happy that it was being done again and he was honored. He said that in Korea, people are very jazzed about the prospect of it being done here. So I feel that we have kind of carte blanche in doing our version of it, and I think Spike’s gonna be great. It’s gonna be great, I’m excited."

I liked the Hancock concept, it was actually pretty good. It was the execution that left it lacking to me.

bgg1175, I dunno, maybe because enough people like him that his films always make millions?

Hancock was good, I think the real problem with the film came from the twist about Hancocks past. BRING ON THE SEQUEL

Hancock was meh. Good example of where swearing can just become completely unnecessary at a point

I hate Will Smith, and yes I came to this article to say that. :)

Was OK until the stupid mythology part came in. Basically until they started explaining things.

Shit movie.

Hancock was pretty damn good, just didn't need the high level of comedy in the first section of the movie. It unbalanced the delivery of the concept when you evaluate the entire tale.

I know Hollywood loves catering to run of the mill action-comedy American audiences, but that's all the first half of the movie was, a bunch of silly gags! The later part of the movie with the mythological aspect was when it finally got interesting, became more mature and dramatic enough to be worthy of attention.

I think a prequel would be better because they could explore the other gods and go into more about how their powers work. It would also be better if it took on a slightly darker tone. It would be cool to see the same characters in a different time period.

I'm with Fogs on this -- right up until they revealed the mythology it was pretty good. Hopefully if they make a sequel they can have a super powered villain instead of that lame cripple.

Hancock was awful. Crap like that and Green Hornet drag down the entire genre and make superhero movies look like a joke.

I COULD WATCH A HANCOCK SEQUEL..MAYBE A LOOK AT THE ORIGINS OF THE GODS THEN FAST FORWARD TO THE PRESENT, HANCOCK INADVERTANTLY AWAKENING A SLEEPING GOD AND BATTELING HIM..HE NEEDS TO GET IT DONE BEFORE HE GETS TOO OLD

Loved the first.

Haters gonner hate but no reason to hate it if you didn't like it in the first time since its not going to effect you directly if you aren't going to say anything, at least its not changing source material like crap movies like resident evil abomination or the terrible dragonball/doom movie.

I'm still waiting for Bad Boys 2. Exploitation filmmaking with a mega million dollar budget. If they're gonna do hancock 2 at least make sure you bring back charlize

Hancock was OK. Needed a better villain(s) and better writing.

When they do a sequel it needs to tie the franchise to "Unbreakable" it could be done so seamlessly and work so well.
