First Teaser Image For New SAMURAI JACK Series Released

At the Annecy Festival D'Animation in France, Genndy Tartakovsky debuted the first look at the new Samurai Jack animated series. With the show premiering on Toonami will the tone become more adult?

After 12 years, Samurai Jack will return to Cartoon Network's Saturday night Toonami programming block later this year.  The Primetime Emmy Award winning cartoon continued telling the story of Jack the Samurai in the pages of IDW after the show was canceled but many of the show's diehard fans failed to make the transition.

Many of these original fans are now much older and the darker tone conveyed in the first image might signify that the new show will also show a more mature tone.   The Toonami programming block features many anime shows rated TV-MA.  Do you think that's the best direction to take the show?

From Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter's Laboratory, comes the tale of a young samurai cast far into the future by the evil shape-shifting wizard Aku. Join Samurai Jack on his quest to return to the past and undo the destruction that Aku has wrought upon the land. With award-winning artwork and intricate, action-packed plots, the many journeys of Samurai Jack are a must for any fan's collection.
