A new character teaser for Disney and Pixar's Cars 3 has landed, and this one isn't nearly as dark as the film's first teaser that debuted last month. Instead, this teaser gives us some quick shots of Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), and two new characters that will feature in the film, Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) and new rival Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Brian Fee explained that the third film's story will centre around the theme of getting older. “McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

You can see a new still from the film below as well. Be sure to tune in to CBM when the first official trailer debuts on January 9th, 2017Cars 3 hits theaters on June 15, 2017.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game he will need the help of eager young female race technician Cruz Ramirez. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet, he will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage against his new rival, Jackson Storm.

I just dont care for the cars franchise. I don't understand how it now has 2 sequels and the Incredibles isn't getting one for a few more years.

@RancidBane - well in the case of Incredible,s Brad Bird wants to be the one that makes the sequel, but he said he will hold off from doing a sequel until he knows what he wants to do (which clearly he does now, its better to plan out your story, instead of just rushing it just because we fans want another incredibles) and not to forget he was also busy doing live action movies.

@eagc1995 - I get your point, but Pixar clearly didn't use this approach in this shit cars franchise.

@RancidBane - With Cars its more of a case of an idea that soudns good in paper but executed poorly, as John Lassester had the idea of Cars 2, years before they started working on it, as he said he came up with Cars 2 back in 2006 when promoting Cars 1, as you know when you do press tour for your movies you have to visit other countries, so when John visited these other countries he thought what would Mater do if he was in lets say France or Toyko or England, So he thought an movie of Mater finding himself outside of Radiator Springs would be a great idea for a sequel, and for me that does sound good in paper, but the execution was not done well.

Remember that time Owen Wilson attempted suicide because he was rich and banged Kate Hudson?

We often forget how difficult and stressful celebrity lives can be.

Bring back Michael Keaton's character.

This one sounds like they actually have a story that inspired it, rather than the "I dunno... make it a spy film or something. Just make some more toys!" plot line for Cars 2.
