A new character teaser for Disney and Pixar's
Cars 3 has landed, and this one isn't nearly as dark as the film's first teaser that debuted last month. Instead, this teaser gives us some quick shots of
Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), and two new characters that will feature in the film,
Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo) and new rival
Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer).
In an interview with
Entertainment Weekly, director Brian Fee explained that the third film's story will centre around the theme of getting older.
“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”
You can see a new still from the film below as well. Be sure to tune in to CBM when the first official trailer debuts on
January 9th, 2017.
Cars 3 hits theaters on
June 15, 2017.
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game he will need the help of eager young female race technician Cruz Ramirez. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet, he will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage against his new rival, Jackson Storm.
