Holy.....nostalgia.....crap.....
I mean....my inner child was bursting in tears on Sunday when I saw this ad on the TV screen. And not the same why when the Avengers ad come on. No! There were tears but in my pants area. ANYWAYS! So the Met Life ad (which is a insurance company) starts in a field or valley and you first see Charlie Brown and right behind him are the other Peanuts gang; Lucy, Linus, Sally, Marcie, Schroederr, Woodstock and Franklin (yes they even bring freaking Franklin along!) and then, its cut to He-Man galloping on top of Battle Cat and Goddamn Where's Waldo was scrolling in the background and He-Man picks up Penelope Pussycat while freaking Pepe Le Pew was chasing them!! And that when I was like "wait - WHAT ?! =o" But it didn't end there - freaking Atom Ant and Speedy Gonzales! Having a foot race! What the [frick] is going on here?!
From that moment, my mind went to a whirl-wind! But it continues. A whole slew of amazing and legendary cartoon character starts to appear: Mr. Magoo, Fred and Velma driving the Mystery Machine, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons in their flying car, Fat Albert being carry by the Cosby Kids, Quick-Draw Mcgraw, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martian, Elroy Jetsons in his little [frick]ing flying pod, Oh my God - Mr. Peabody and Sherman ?! What - is that Daphne, Richie Rich, Top Cat and Mr. Spacely coming out of a limo??! Hold up - am I seeing Grape Ape and mother [frick]ing Volcron ??! Have I went back in time to Cartoon Network back in the 90's?! Why is nobody talking about this commercial?!! I mean, it got lose during the excitement for the Avengers commercial (which is totally understandable) and the America in Halftime commercial with Clint Eastwood) (which was very powerful) but damn! I was speak-less. My childhood was on TV for about 30 seconds. If the Smurfs, the Ninja Turtles, Josie and the Pussycats, and Optimus Prime were in the Met Life commercial, I would have lose my shit like a chimp on speed. And the ending to the ad was to me, so, so beautiful. I talk about it way too long! Please watch it. Try not to cry or get emotional like I almost did on Sunday in a Super Bowl gathering, surrounded by drunken Giants fans and drunken Patriots fans. Just here. Enjoy!
