Netflix Releases VOLTRON Season 2 Trailer

Netflix is really taking no prisoners. After a stellar launch for Luke Cage and first-look set photos for Punisher making their way online, Netflix has released the first season 2 trailer for Voltron.

"Keith. If I don't make it out of here, I want you to lead Voltron."



Fans of the original '80s Voltron series had to be expecting this to happen but with Sven..er Shiro surviving season 1, some held out hope that the Netflix remake would be heading down a different path.  Judging by the ominous season 2 teaser, that doesn't appear to be the case.  

The entire voice cast from season 1 is expected to return for season 2, including:
  • Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith
  • Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance
  • Bex Taylor-Klaus (Arrow) as Pidge
  • Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro (formerly "Sven")
  • Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk
  • Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura
  • Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran
  • King Zarkon as Neil Kaplan (Transformers: Robots in Disguise)
Back in July, it was confirmed that season 2 would be premiering late-2016.  Perhaps we'll receive an exact date during NYCC later this week?

I loved the first season and I am super psyched for season 2. My only thought from this trailer is DON'T KILL/TAKE OUT SHIRO PLEASE!!!!! Shiro/Sven from the first Voltron was killed off/too injured to fight within the first 5 episodes so there was no chance to care for the character. In this show though they have set up so many story elements for him for season 2 and beyond. The season finale of season 1 had huge implications for him and his character with the Black Lion and another character. So please writers and show runners DON'T KILL/TAKE OUT SHIRO PLEASE!!!!!

@MrDandy - Season one was supposed to be longer. These episodes were already made. For whatever reasons, Netflix chose to make it two seasons.

@dracula - Seriously the huge plot twist at the finale with Shiro, the Black Lion, and another character. How the hell could they kill him off without really resolving that.

Really liked season 1, but it felt weird when they formed Voltron and they didn't play the original forming Voltron music. The music they do play is pretty bland, but I can get over that. I'll just play it from my tablet whenever they form up...

I like the first episode/movie thing - where the three episodes were rolled into one. Though since it seems the episodes dipped in writing quality to where the characters had to make silly mistakes in order to get in a position for a fight scene.
