In 2011, a film adaptation in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series of Frank Miller's story "Batman: Year One" from 1987 in the main Batman title, featured in issues #404–407 was made. It is produced by Bruce Timm, co-directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu. It features the voices of Benjamin McKenzie as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Bryan Cranston as James Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Essen, Grey DeLisle as Barbara Gordon, Jon Polito as Commissioner Loeb, Alex Rocco as Carmine 'The Roman' Falcone. The movie premiered at Comic-Con, with direct-to-video DVD and Blu-ray available on October 18th.

Probably my two favorite Batman stories. I think they'd be too long for a 90 minute animated movie without cutting a whole lot out though.

Saw this movie last night, it's pretty good. Although it has nothing todo with Batman/Bruce Wayne. It's basically about Gordon.

I’m not getting it. I’ll watch it on netflix or Pay Preview. But I hate Scooby Doo animators. They have now idea how to do action!! With out even looking at the animation, you can see no eye color, like Scooby Doo. This will suck like The Red Hood animation!! Man! I was hoping they knew what they were working with this time.

I thought the movie was quite bad. first of all i m really sick of seeing batman's origin story over and over and over again.

then there is the horrible writing and/or direction. several scenes end so awkwardly that i totally fell out of the experience and asked myself, what the hell did i just watch?

for example. several times during the movie batman or somebody else ends up winning a fight and what do they do at the end? they tie up the villains and leave them - NAKED. i mean why would batman strip someone down naked first and tie them up? there were no fires or any other toxins on their clothes.

i laughed so hard when gordon got in a fist fight and afterwards we see him driving off, leaving them other man beaten to a pulp and also naked... what the hell? did gordon rape him and then leave him for good? what the hell is being suggested?

strange flick, i really wouldnt wanna watch again.

saw it last night. It was a much darker Batman Begins. They jump around a lot, and it would've been nice if they focused a little more on Batman rather than Gordan, but it was pretty damn good nonetheless

@phoe1 If you had actually ever bothered to read the graphic novel, then you'd know that seeing them tied up that way wasn't done especially for the animated feature as it was in the book too. I'm looking forward to this one very much.

"This one's evaporated" lol.

Someone said it before a few weeks ago, and I have to agree: the flesh colored eyes with the black pupil is a strange animation style, don't like it.
