Razzies 2018: THE EMOJI MOVIE And Tom Cruise Win (Lose?) Big At This Year's Pre-Oscars Show

With the Oscars taking place tomorrow, the full list of winners (well, they're losers really) for this year's Razzies have been revealed and it's The Emoji Movie and Tom Cruise taking home the big prizes.

Who would have ever thought that a movie featuring Patrick Stewart voicing Poop would be a flop? The critically panned The Emoji Movie stole the show at the Razzies last night as it took home pretty much all the top awards handed out by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation. However, the animated feature had some A-List company in the form of Tom Cruise as he won for The Mummy

Superhero movies remained pretty much unscathed this year but it's easy to imagine Justice League getting a lot of attention in 2019, unfortunately. Regardless, a lot of big names have walked away with awards here including Mel Gibson and Kim Basinger. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, meanwhile, had his movie Baywatch become the first recipient of "The Razzie Contender So Rotten You Loved It" award, a prize voted on by Rotten Tomatoes users for a movie so bad they actually ended up enjoying it.

Transformers: The Last Knight had nine nominations but walked away with no prizes at all, a rarity for a Michael Bay helmed Transformers movie. Here are the list of the winners in its entirety (in bold):

Justice League and The Last Jedi should have been nominated for worst screenplay.

@Nightwing1015 - Nah, TLJ was a great film.

@kylo0607 - It was very well made but the writing is really weird. Even well known characters like Yoda were off. Why would he still be acting crazy when talking to Luke?

It's a little controversial to nominate both Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence for mother!, isn't it?

Do they think that it wasn't nominated for any big awards because it was universally disliked? No. They just didn't want to take a stand on such a divisive movie.

A lot of people would be just as non-plussed seing this nominated for Best Actress, Best Director and Best Picture at the Oscars as others would be to see it nominated for Razzies. It's a film to stay away from with regards to awards, as it was not either universally liked or disliked.

Half of the people who saw it (mostly the GA) thought it was one of the worst movies they've ever seen in their lives, whereas the other half (mostly critics and cinephiles) thought it was one of the best movies they've ever seen in their lives.

And that's my rant on mother!, the best film I saw last year.

@GwenLantern - They did the same to Batman v Superman, which should have been ignored by both awards ceremonies, but because of fanboy rage, it took home undeserved Razzies.

Razzies is just a circlejerk of well known movies to try and stay relevant, but then again so is the oscars

@LaserKing - The story was like an extended TV special that someone decided to throw a blockbuster budget at. It wasn't the absolute worst. But it was just not deserving of being a feature film.
