THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE: Here's What Happens In The Movie's TWO Post-Credits Scenes - SPOILERS

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now playing in theaters, and you'll need to stick around for two post-credits scenes! Whether you missed them or simply can't wait, we have a full breakdown right here...

Early reviews for The Super Mario Bros. Movie may be mixed (the audience score tells a very different story), but Illumination's animated take on the iconic video game surprises still looks set to be a box office hit this weekend.

With that in mind, we're sure a sequel will eventually become a reality, and there are two post-credits scenes which lay the groundwork for that.

The first comes right in the middle of the credits, with Bowser sitting at his piano singing "Peaches." However, before he can get going, one of the Toad guards tells him to shut up, with the camera panning out to reveal the formidable villain is now tiny. He was shrunken down in the movie's final battle and is left stuck that way.

After vowing to break out, he's ignored by the guard and left alone in the dark with his evil thoughts.

The second post-credits scene comes right at the very end, taking us back to the underground pipe system where Mario and Luigi were first transported to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Those pipes were destroyed in The Super Mario Bros. Movie's final act, sending a number of characters to Brooklyn for a battle against Bowser. While they all eventually returned to the Mushroom Kingdom, something was left behind...a Yoshi egg!

It starts to hatch right before the screen cuts to black, but we do then get to hear Mario's iconic sidekick say, "Yoshi!"

With that, the stage is set for one of this franchise's most beloved characters to appear in a potential follow-up and, reviews be damned, we hope that eventually happens. We've heard rumblings about a Donkey Kong spin-off, of course, but these stingers are clearly meant to set up The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2

Will you be checking out the movie this weekend or have you already seen it? Let us know in the comments section.

$31 million on a Wednesday (I know it’s Spring Break). This movie is going to do gang busters at the box office.

@mountainman - Prediction for this universe:

- Mario 2 featuring Yoshi and other mario adjacent charcaters with Wario and Waluigi as the main villains and Bowser still involved in some capacity

- Donky Kong Country featuring Donky, Diddy, Kiddie, Cranky and whatever the girls name was.

- Some mario related spin off - possibly Luigi’s Mansion

- An off the wall mario movie like galaxy, sunshine or paper

- Deeper into Nintendo catalog with Zelda and Metroid

- One dark horse. Maybe F Zero. Maybe Star Fox. Maybe some other Nintendo property.

- Smash Bros as the crossover.

I was hoping for a tease of Mario Galaxy with Rosalina. I really thought the luma was going to be more than just one of the many Easter eggs.

In fact, this movie should’ve been called Super Mario Easter Eggs. It’s clear they designed the movie around every Easter egg they could put, instead on focusing on story and characters.

It’s still a passable first movie, but they need to improve a lot in the sequel (and get rid of the horrible licensed music that has no place in a mario movie).

@colonel179 - I’ve heard that the Mario-inspired score is great though. Outside of the real-world songs, how would you rate the rest of the music?

@mountainman - The music was great! It was amazing to hear orchestrated arrangements of Mario classic music.

That's why I got so disappointed that there's licensed music and worst of all, in the worst places where Mario music would fit much much better. Also, they got the most cliched music from any movie they could get.

@mountainman - Although Bowser's singing was awful. Out-of character and clearly done to satisfy Jack Black. Those moments, really takes you out of the movie, because you can clearly tell is Jack Black and breaks Bowser completely.

People were afraid Mario would sound like Chris Pratt, but surprisingly, you forget about it really quickly, but with Bowser, even though Jack makes a great voice as him, he does something I heard that it's 100% correct: There's a lot of Jack Black-isms. That's the word and it's on point, which breaks the character so much.

@colonel179 - Yeah I’m not sure why movies like to put misplaced popular songs in them. It happens too often.

That is good though about the Mario-inspired score.

I’ve also heard that Jack Black was one of the better voice actors in it. I love me some Tenacious D so I was hoping his song I had heard about would work. Too bad it didn’t.

Either way, it sounds like this is a fairly good start to Nintendo on screen. I’ve heard nothing but good from the GA that has seen it, besides minor complaints here and there.

Not sure what critics were expecting from this movie, but it was a fun time at the theater. My daughter was grinning from ear to ear and everyone was laughing.

Honestly, unless I’m missing huge parts of the lore, Mario really not about much but saving people. Mario longline might as well be the same as heroes

@MyCoolYoung - Woke reviewers and movie or pop culture critics predictably hate Chris Pratt because he's a proud Christian. That is 100% of what is behind their negative reviews. Just wait for Guardians 3. You'll see.

I really liked this movie! But the licensed music has to go next time. Also I’d love to see them do more and build to Smash Bros. I’ve been saying it for years and it’s finally time

Saw it and I love it! Gonna see it again tomorrow. Both times in 4DX 3D. Honestly, I wish the movie was a little longer or is it that I am use to the 2+ hour long movies with a lot of world building and longer action sequences? But I was left wanting more! As much as I loved the movie, it felt rushed giving us only little time with each character. It almost felt like a long episode of an animated series. Beside that, I loved it!! The characterizations of all the all the different characters is perfect.
