BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT Officially Revealed As Warner Bros.' Next DC Animated Feature

The back of the Batman and Harley Quinn DVD cover reveals the title of WB's next DC animated feature, and it's going to be an adaptation of 1989 one-shot, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. More past the jump...

"Not more Batman!" Yes, more Batman - however, this next DC animated feature will give us a very different take on The Dark Knight if that's any consolation.

The back cover of the Batman and Harley Quinn home video release has revealed that an animated adaptation of Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola's Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is in the works.

This one-shot story was set in the 1800s, and pitted the Caped Crusader against none other than Jack the Ripper. Though not marketed as such upon its release, Gotham by Gaslight is considered to be the first of the "Elseworlds" stories, which take DC characters out of their canonical settings and into alternate timelines or realities.

More details as we get 'em, but for now let us know what you think of this news in the usual place.

@Doomsday8888 - The Nail's use of Clark wouldn't be a bad jumping off point for the DCEU. Not wholesale from the beginning, but maybe from the POV of a Superman that's come back with no memory of his past and trying to learn to be Superman right from the get go. No baggage from previous movies. A fresh start without the reboot.

Kinda...yeah.
But i think his Rebirth in JL is going to have the same effect.
A new Superman under every aspect!
