We got a first look at Blade Runner: Black Lotus earlier this year via an announcement teaser, but Adult Swim and Crunchyroll have now debuted a full trailer for the upcoming anime series, which is set to premiere on Toonami on November 13 with two back-to-back episodes.

Set between the events of Ridley Scott's seminal sci-fi classic and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed Blade Runner: 2049, Black Lotus will focus on a new replicant character named Elle (voiced by Jessica Henwick in English and Arisa Shida in Japanese) who was created for some unknown purposes.

Specific plot points are still a little hazy, but from what we can gather, Elle will play an integral part in bridging the gap between the films as the Tyrell Corporation crumbles and makes way for the Wallace Corporation. The trailer also features plenty of familiar sights and sounds from the neon-drenched world Scott first brought to life back in 1982, and while the CG animation might prove to be divisive, we are getting a strong Blade Runner vibe.

Check out the trailer along with a new poster, and let us know what you think.

You can check out the full voice cast along with some character details below.

Elle: a female replicant created for a secret and unknown purpose (Jessica Henwick/Arisa Shida)

Joseph: a mysterious figure who owns a spare parts junkyard in Los Angeles (Will Yun Lee/Shinshu Fuji)

Niander Wallace Jr: a brilliant scientist working for his father (Wes Bentley/Takehito Koyasu)

Marlowe: a deadly Blade Runner (Josh Duhamel/Taiten Kusunoki)

Earl Grant: Police Chief of the LAPD (Stephen Root/Hochu Otsuka)

Doc Badger: a black market dealer (Barkhad Abdi/Takayuki Kinba)

Hooper: a journalist in the pocket of the Wallace Corporation (Jason Spisak/Kazuki Yao)

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is executive produced by Joseph Chou, and features episodes co-directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama.

@Waddles - They should of just done an anime of it like the short film.

It's got a good vibe, but I'm still unsure about it, I wish it was old grimy Ghost In The Shell type of 2D.

On a side note, I'd love to see a Blade Runner VR experience happen. That's a world I want to visit.

@Waddles - I have this theory that the less you try to tangibilize the visuals, the more tangible they become in the mind of the audience.
People like to create the perfect version of whatever story you give them by filling the gaps by themselves. And the perfect version differs from one person to another. The more you try to give a photorealistic visual representation of that story, the less gap filling you allow the audience to do.
From another perspective, the task becomes harder and harder when you try to generate 3D worlds and merge CG with live action in a seamless way. The technological cracks simply become more apparent to the audience (from uncanny valley to wonky physics) and that takes them out of the experience a little.
That's one reason why I believe that people generally prefer books to movies for example. And in this case 2D animation has an edge over 3D. Of course personal preference plays a significant factor in this. I myself prefer 2D in anime just because I do, but I still think that this reasoning has its role in the whole matter.
Anyway, that was a needless rant, take care.

@Waddles - Thanks! glad I wasn't just rambling like an idiot.
CG definitely has its place in enhancing the experience when it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb (I'm looking at you, Berserk 2016).
The attack on Titan attempts, while not ideal in my opinion, were still more than serviceable seeing that 2D was off the table due to production restrictions. I hope Mappa has the time to work on it more in the next part of the final season.

First this, and now DBZ's new movie is entirely 3d cgi.. what is going on! Tired of drawing? Goodness. Make it 60fps if you're gonna go the cg route

As someone who liked the aesthetic of Blade Runner but not the actual movies themselves I’ll give this a shot but the animation style looks like it could get old fast

This style reminds me of those promos for mobile games. And that's not a good thing. Still will give it a chance though, that cast sounds promising

Also, anyone watch the Altered Carbon show? Because for a second, I thought this was that and didn't knew it did well enough for a sequel

They could´ve done a season based on the opening text of the original movie, showing the off-world colony wars

then another seaosn taking place in the middle of both movies
then another maybe continuing 20149 since I dont think we´re geting a sequel anytime soon
I still give it a chance though
