We had zero promotion leading up to this, but Netflix has now premiered the first teaser trailer for Adam Wingard's (The Guest, You’re Next) live-action adaptation of Death Note.

For those unfamiliar with the story, it follows a student named Light Turner (Nat Wolff) who uncovers a mysterious notebook that kills people if their name is written in it. We don't get a proper look at Willem Dafoe's Ryuk, but we do hear him right at the end and it's creepy as hell.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

@knocturnalzen10 - agree completely,I loved the anime, but they should have done a Netflix series instead of movie. I don't know how they are going to cover it in 2 hours

It took me a few minutes to notice that L is in this trailer... the actor playing him looks nothing like L.

They picked the palest character in the series with long black hair and made him black wtih short hair... :L

@Scarilian - Did you see Get Out and Atlanta? Keith Stanfield is killing it right now and he has huge range. He's going to do great despite the race change. He does off kilter characters really well.

@Scarilian - Ezra Miller would have been perfect for L. This version looks like an ANTIFA member.

The Guest and You're Next are both great and the anime is really good, so I'm excited to see what Wingard can do with this.
