This Is The Live-Action DRAGON BALL Z Movie You've Always Wanted

Disappointed with the numerous Dragon Ball Z fan films and crowdfunded projects to date? Then this epic project from BlackSmokeFilms just might be what you're looking for. Check out the awesome new fan film, Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Men.

The fan film is a re-imagining of the bleak reality of Future Trunk's original timeline where Goku, Gohan and the rest of the Z-Fighter have perished at the hands of the Androids and Cell. As the last surviving warrior, can Trunks slowdown Cell long enough for Bulma to complete the Time Machine back at Capsule Corp.? As for the project, the muted colors and landscape work well. There's no purple hair or bipedal dog people. Sure the VFX isn't terribly great but the concept is solid and the storytelling is respectful of the lore. This just might be the best live-action DBZ Universe to date.

Dragon Ball Z: The Fall of Man - A Fan-Fiction produced by Yohan Faure & Vianney Griffon. Based upon Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

"The World isn’t like it’s supposed to be.
Something happened along the way
."
With these words Trunks reminds himself the arrival of CELL, the loss of his friends and his training for combat. While he knows he doesn’t have any chance, he will try to make the difference and bring back the lost hope. This Fan Fiction was born from our desire to adapt DRAGON BALL Z into a film, while adopting a dramatic and realistic approach. THE FALL OF MEN is set in different future, inspired by characters of the DBZ saga, this untold story pays tribute to AKIRA TORIYAMA’s universe.

It's not hard to be better than that piece of shit that got released. This looks ok. And you got to give the team credit for doing this stuff on a very small budget. I will keep believing that one day we as fans will get the Dragon Ball Z movie that we deserve. starting of with the Vegeta vs Goku Saga and then the real deal villains in later sequels.....

Didn't watch the video but judging from the pictures it looks like a "dark and gritty" take. So tired of these.

Dragon Ball Z movie was great in 2013:

the affects were outstanding for a fan film, but ya if youre gonna do it, do it right, trucks resembled nothing like the character, and how can you take away cells mouth. trucks also never fights perfect cell in the future, he fights imperfect cell and dies in that timeline so this is just pretty dumb

I hate how these fan films try to make DBZ dark and gritty... DBZ is fun, adventurous and colorful! Hell some of the best color combinations I've seen. It sucks to see a joyless DBZ.

Not saying that it doesnt have it's dark moments which it sure as hell does, but the whole DBZ has to be serious thing that goes with these fan films is exactly why it will never work if you keep missing the heart.

Yeah nice job to the team on this.

I do have to agree with others though that DBZ is not Dark & Gritty or Apocalyptic themed.

That's exactly what fans don't want to see from a live-action film.

It's a very eccentric world.

Fantastic trailer.... Hollywood really crippled the chances of the movie being done properly. Also I really don't care if the actors are asian, white, Indian, black , brown etc They were aliens and it was an anime..All that matters is getting the story right and ensuring the actors understand the mythos and the movie gets a good budget. Although i think we won't see another DB or DBZ movie in the next 15 years.. :(

It's crap...
Why the [frick] would you turn one of the most fun anime's into this bleak lifeless, emo garbage? DBZ is [frick]ing fun and colorful, [frick] this...

I enjoyed it. Good music, good visuals. Interesting to not have anybody speaking but it works.

I've been watching DBZ since the mid 90's. I don't really care about it looking exactly like it because it's just a small film giving a glimpse into a DBZ live world. Since it's based on the original trunks story, that was dark anyway.

I was never big on the silly parts of DBZ anyway.

To people complaining about the dark gritty nature of this fan film, have you not seen the movie this is based off of? Future Trunks's timeline is extremely bleak. I thought they did a great job capturing the despair of a world under the android's reign. You got the light-hearted hope with Goku at the end.

Well done to the team that made this. I am not a huge fan of the Cell saga, so make Buu next :)

Yeah, the tease of Goku at the end was nice. Hopefully they do more and we see more of everyone's personalities.

NO.

The DB movie that I always wanted won't happen unless the technology catches up which is not going to happen for a long while. The only thing that keeps happening is Hollywood F'cking up and trying to cash grab by chunking out crap.

When technology catches up that you can create the characters in CGI and make them almost lifelike and lookalike and it is done with love and by talented people...only then will I have the DB movie I always wanted. And that DB movie will blow our collective mind. Not sure if i'll live long enough to witness that. But for now...anima will do as it's great.

I enjoyed this a lot.

Given it was set around Future Trunks, I expected the bleakness.

I found the accent of the voiceover to be distracting though....just my opinion. Other than that, really well done. I actually liked that they gave Perfect Cell the mouth of Imperfect Cell. Makes him seem a lot more monstrous...never lied perfect Cell having a human face.
