EW has just debuted a new poster for The Guest director Adam Wingard's upcoming live-action adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata's classic manga, Death Note.

Last time we got a better look at Willem Dafoe's take on Ryuk the shinigami, and here the spotlight falls on the mysteriosu detective known only as L (Lakeith Stanfield), who investigates Light after coming to believe the young student is involved in a serious of bizarre deaths.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Death Note follows a student named Light Turner (Nat Wolff) who uncovers a mysterious notebook that kills people if their name is written in it.

Also starring Margaret Qualley as Mia Sutton, Paul Nakauchi as Watari and Shea Whigham as James Turner, Death Note hits Netflix on August 25.

See what I did? I took that sterile joke that people keep copying and pasting from each other because they lack originality and I twisted it in a way that was not only hilarious but topically relevant and packed with satire.

I hope I win user of the year for 2017!!
