After 15-years, the final chapter of Tite Kubo's Bleach manga will be published later this Fall. The 73rd volume went on sale Monday (yes, it's already Monday in Japan) and Japanese readers were surprised by an announcement that revealed that the next volume released would be the last.
Tite Kubo began Bleach back in 2001 and the series quickly rose in popularity polls to become one of Japan's top shonen manga. An anime adaptation in 2004 catapulted the series to new heights, however, questionable power-scaling and contradictory plot developments led many to drop the series. Former readers of the series accused Kubo of chasing dollar signs as the manga author initially stated that he'd planned for the entire series to only last 5 years.
