Legendary comics has officially released their highly anticipated graphic novel adaptation of hit film Pokémon: Detective Pikachu. After many video game film adaptations failed to find success on the big screen, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu turned things around and paved the way for the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog.

The film follows Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) and his partner Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds) as embark on a journey in an attempt to find Tim's missing father. The graphic novel adaptation, which is written by Brian Buccatello (Punisher/Batman, The Flash) with art by Nelson Daniel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters), is an adaptation of the film and follows the same plotline.

“Brian’s writing and Nelson’s art have really captured a depth to the world in which Detective Pikachu and his fellow Pokémon live. We are so excited to expand upon this story, as well as the characters of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.” - Robert Napton, Senior Vice President of Legendary Comics

With a price tag of only $17.99, many fans will want to re-live the adventure in a new way.

I wonder if this means that the movie is not getting a sequel? The box office numbers were disappointing, but it did not flop.

There will be more movies, not necessarily with these characters though. It still made more than Sonic worldwide. Had they adapted the classic Ash story line it probably would have made alot more.
