As of right now, Aquaman appears to have three primary antagonists in the form of Patrick Wilson's Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren's King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. The latter is likely going to serve as a secondary villain, but The Get Down star is busy brushing up nonetheless.

As you can see below, he's picked up a variety of comics to study Aquaman lore. There's plenty of titles from both The New 52 and Rebirth runs, not to mention a Suicide Squad comic which puts Black Manta and Deathstroke front and centre. Chances are these don't reveal what's to come in the movie, but it's definitely interesting to wonder just how much these might have influenced director James Wan.
