Pre-Production On James Wan's AQUAMAN Set To Begin In Australia Later this Month

The Flash may have lost its director, but things are at least still looking good for Aquaman! According to a new report, pre-production will begin ramping up in Australia sooner than expected...

2017 is going to be a big test for Warner Bros. and their DC Films Universe. Wonder Woman needs to be a success, and if Justice League goes wrong, who knows what the ramifications for these characters will be moving forward. In many ways, 2018 is equally as significant though, especially as the studio looks to launch two new franchises with Aquaman and The Flash. The latter has already lost its director due to "creative differences", and fans are hoping that James Wan stays committed to the former.

Well, in an extremely positive update, we now know that pre-production will begin in Queensland, Australia later this month. That's according to Gold Coast Bulletin, but don't expect to see any photos just yet as sets for Thor: Ragnarok need to be taken apart and removed before Aquaman can start shooting. The site adds that that is set to take place in the New Year, so we don't have long to wait!

So far, the cast of Aquaman includes only Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Willem Dafoe. The ensemle will probably be filled out over the next few months, so expect news on that front sooner rather than later as Warner Bros. is going to need to find a lot more characters to flesh out the world belonging to the King of Atlantis. Aquaman is set to be released on July 27th, 2018, so stay tuned for updates...

200 million budget is pretty much guaranteed for this. Hopefully it pays off.

I'm hoping he does a decent job. I'm looking forward to Aquaman. It's one character that I want to see brought to screen, especially after reading the new 52 Aquaman run that Johns wrote. Sooooo amazing

"2017 is going to be a big test for Warner Bros. and their DC Films Universe."

Test for what? They're already three movies in and while they got critically eviscerated, they're financially invulnerable. MOS was the test and no matter what any cynic, skeptic, or hater has to say, it and its sisters passed. Films that make over half a billion dollars and have received overwhelming loyalty (AKA cult status) is nothing to sneeze at, you know.

In response to the actual article, this is in fact great news. Aquaman was always one of my favorite superheroes from the comics I grew up with and it's great to finally see him get the respect he deserves. I have faith in James, Jason, Amber, and everyone else involved...

@Shield23 - Well, men, the problem with Warner and DC films is that they are loosing ground, that is all. The only reason why Batman V Superman did 800 million dollars is because it had Batman and Superman, two of the greatest, known and more loved characters in the story of comics, it would be strange a movie like dat made less than 500 million dollars you know?

But from a Critic point, Batman V Superman was a mediocre movie that could have been better, a lot better and this isnt my opinion, is reality, becuase from my side of view i really dont care, Jessie Eisenberg was cool even if he wasnt Lex Luthor i love the guy.

Suicide Squad is the same shit but worst, because the movie was a trick, a lot of DC fans felt betrayed by the company and the general audience watch a pretty mediocre movie.

So that is the main problem of DC right know, they have given a pretty terrible first impression to the main audience and they have lost a lot of loyal fans in the way.

So Wonder Woman needs to be a sucess or that would be the film that ends the credibility of DC like a mark, not only for the loyal fans but also for the Main Audience, wich is clear wont pay 10 bucks to see Fant4stic 4 times, when they alredy see something really similar alredy 2 times...

I am not fanboy, i am some guy who sees reality, DC is pretty [frick] right know from an audience point, because yes i has made money back from all his movies, but the quantity isnt soo big and they are burning all the credibility and trust fans and the general public have in them.

Is like Marvel, Marvel makes some pretty mediocre and formulaic movies, with some nice visuals, but they have "win and secure" an audience, they are a secure investment for a fun movie, so that is the reason why they alredy have a solid fan base from a general to a cult following point, that will always made their movies a success even if the plot or the movie feels cookie cutter.

DC Target has fail for reasons i dont clearly understand, but is losing his audience and that is the problem...
