We first caught a glimpse of this Avengers: Doomsday poster a few days ago, but it's now been officially released, sending MCU fans into a frenzy.
At this past July's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios displayed the costumes for three Latverian Witches wearing green, yellow, and purple. Well, the mysterious trio stand tall behind Doctor Doom on this ominous new poster, but there's been one huge change.
The witch at the back is wearing red, or could that be...scarlet? Nothing is done by accident in the marketing campaign for a movie as big as this one, and it feels like the closest we've come to confirmation that Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch has indeed fallen under Doom's spell.
There may still be a yellow witch, of course, but that Comic-Con display might have been one big misdirect. As for the other two, we're still betting on Clea and Sylvie, two characters who were revealed to have big ties to the Multiverse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki.
"He is a very powerful character," Joe Russo recently said of Robert Downey Jr.'s take on Victor Von Doom. "He’s a genius. He studied his foes, he understands them, and he’s also well-planned. He’s not somebody who just does something off the cuff."
"So, everything is meticulous with him, and he knows that, if he’s going to step on a battlefield against somebody, he has to have the tactical advantage or a power advantage against that person," the filmmaker added. "So, he’s very difficult to beat."
If the Scarlet Witch is back, then we can likely expect the Russo Brothers to adapt elements of "The Children's Crusade." In that storyline, an amnesiac Wanda Maximoff was being controlled by Doom, who planned to steal and unleash her powers to reshape the world in his image.
