Avengers: Doomsday Promo Art Reveals Full Map Of Latveria And Confirms Doctor Doom's Earth-828 Connection

A newly released Avengers: Doomsday tie-in book confirms Doctor Doom's Earth-828 origins, while a first look at Latveria reveals several locations named after the iconic MCU villain.

With just over a month to go before Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters, more details about the Marvel Studios movie are being revealed. Today, we have a first look at a map of Latveria, featuring the names of key locations in the country ruled by Doctor Doom.

The map confirms that Doomstadt is the nation's capital, with Castle Von Doom beside it. Doomvale, Doomsburg, and Doomton are all towns named after Victor Von Doom, along with Doomwood Forest, Mt. Victorum, and Doom Falls.

The Citadel of Doom, meanwhile, is likely the tower we've seen featured in recent tie-in commercials for the movie. Its significance to Avengers: Doomsday's plot has yet to be revealed.

In case it wasn't clear, Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is from Earth-828, the home of the Fantastic Four. This movie will hopefully explore some of the team's history with Victor, and a newly released tie-in book confirms he hails from that reality—despite speculation to the contrary—and that he has a "rich and complex history" with Marvel's First Family.

"The fearsome Victor Von Doom is the mysterious and enigmatic monarch of Latveria. He is master of both sorcery and technology with an intellect to rival Reed Richards's and a will to match," it reads. "He shares a rich and complex history with The Fantastic Four, his country being noticeably absent from gatherings of Sue Storm's Future Foundation."

The decision to pivot from Kang the Conqueror to Doctor Doom means there hasn't been time for us to get acquainted with the villain before he takes centre stage in Avengers: Doomsday. That leaves it up to the Russos to explore his past and rivalry with Mister Fantastic.

Check out this first look at Avengers: Doomsday's Latveria map in the X post below.

Not only will this be the most comic accurate version of Doom onscreen it will also be the most definitive. Previous cinematic versions left a lot to be desired. RDJ is gonna kill it. Just six weeks to go can’t wait.

"He shares a rich and complex history with The Fantastic Four, his country being noticeably absent from gatherings of Sue Storm's Future Foundation."

Hopefully this means they've changed his origin back, but then that would mean they'd have to write in a different reason for Cap being there and since he's already appeared as an 828 resident in that baseball promo, I don't think that will be the case.

@UltronIO - fantastic four/one made many changes that never happens in book sue over power almost beating galactus by her self , Johnny find secret language that reed could not do made look stupid tune sue into leader spotlight all attention on her in movie while others side kicks distractions in there movie

@dragon316 - Johnny figuring the language out was weird. It would have made more sense for that to be Reed.

But Sue's pretty powerful in the book, she even held off Celestials at one point (though it did give her a nose bleed and make her lose consciousness). Plus it was kinda her turn to get the spotlight after Ben, Johnny and Reed in the last three films.

@UltronIO - Yeah how does Cap being there destroy his world if that’s his world? There’s a clear contradiction there

@Bucky74 - Because Incursions act like magnets. You pull a person out of their universe and place them elsewhere, Their universe will now begin to head towards them until their former universe collides with their new universe. Essentially Steve living on 828 is bringing Universe 616 like a freight train to collide with 828.

@SonOfAGif - I know that but supposedly Steve and Peggy being their already caused the incursion that killed Doom’s family, but if it’s the same world that makes no sense

Lame European accent ✅
Refers to himself in third person ✅
Great scientist, but not as good as Reed ✅
Great sorcerer, but not as good as Strange ✅
Always proceed with self-sabotage ✅

What's the real threat here?

@MadThanos - in the comics he’s often smarter than Reed but he self sabotages a lot due to his arrogance

"No, a nice family man can't be the smartest! Only a megalomaniacal asshole can be the smartest! How else am I supposed to justify my own occasional douchebaggery as a necessity, if not a sign of potential superiority over others around me?"
