Rumor: Jeremy Allen White May Have Spoken To Marvel About Wolverine - But Logan Isn't In The X-Men Script

A rumor that Jeremy Allen White may be on Marvel Studios' radar to take over from Hugh Jackman as our new big-screen Wolverine recently did the rounds, and while there may be some truth to it, Logan is not expected to appear in the upcoming X-Men reboot.

After previously mentioning that he'd heard "whispers" that White met with Marvel about potentially donning the claws in his recent newsletter, Jeff Sneider clarified that The Social Reckoning star is not actually "in talks" for the role during this week's episode of The Hot Mic.

Sneider has also heard that Wolverine is "not currently" in the MCU X-Men movie's script.

This doesn't mean Logan couldn't be added in a post-credits scene, but we wouldn't be surprised if Marvel decided to keep the character away from this first movie completely.

White has been an outside-the-box fan pick to play Wolverine for quite a while, and we have previously heard that he's met with the studio about an undisclosed role. Even though many feel that the 5’7” actor would be a good fit for this iconic character, others can't seem to picture him taking on the role of the volatile, clawed mutant.

Though White has played very different types of characters over the course of his career, he is best known for his role as the introverted, self-loathing Carmy Berzatto in FX's The Bear, and some fans find it difficult to imagine him letting loose as the X-Men's resident berserker.

Even if White is one of the actors Marvel is looking at, we can't imagine he'll be the only one. With James Bond close to being cast, Wolverine is expected to become the next highly coveted blockbuster role and is sure to start building buzz around Hollywood very soon.

After years of wondering what Marvel Studios had in store for the Children of the Atom, the X-Men reboot is finally starting to take shape, with Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier set to helm and writers Sonny Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) currently working on a new draft of Michael Lesslie's script.

More recently, the main cast of the long-awaited movie was announced at D23, with Sadie Sink set to reprise her Spider-Man: Brand New Day role as Jean Grey, alongside Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathan Milbury/Mr. Sinister.

We'd later learn that Gen V and Scream 7 star Asa Germann will play Angel, and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping star Ben Wang is in talks to play Iceman. Beast is also expected to round out the original team of five from the comics, and a recent rumor claimed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey has landed the role of the MCU's Hank McCoy.
