Spider-Man: Brand New Day featured only one extra scene after the credits, and it didn't reveal much. The brief stinger saw Ned Leeds' Spider-Tracker reveal that Peter Parker was in Queens. However, it then picked up a new Spider-Man sighting in an "unknown" location.
The camera panned out to show Earth, then shifted into outer space and, after a glitch on the screen, Spidey's location was "found" somewhere in the cosmos. So, is it Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man—on another Earth that's moments away from colliding with Earth-616, perhaps—or has Doctor Doom kidnapped the hero?
Well, after Avengers Endgame: Encore, the latter option seems far more likely.
In one of the re-release's post-credits scenes, Bruce Banner is kidnapped by Doctor Doom, despite being hidden miles beneath the Earth after going savage in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The last thing we hear is the Hulk's roar, and the screen glitches multiple times.
Now, one eagle-eyed fan has noticed that the interference on Banner's monitors bears a striking resemblance to what happened to Ned's Spider-Tracker. The insinuation is that Doom has also spirited Spidey away to parts unknown, either to force him into being an ally or to remove a threat from the board before declaring war on Earth-616.
It's also possible that Victor Von Doom intends to punish Peter for the Incursion he nearly created in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That too may have had a significant impact on the Multiverse's health.
Whatever the case, Marvel Studios has now offered at least a hint at why both Spider-Man and The Hulk are not part of the Avengers team that works alongside the Fantastic Four and X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday. For what it's worth, we've heard rumours that The Hulk, under Doom's control, will fight The Thing during the movie's final battle.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.
