AVENGERS: ENDGAME Roaring To Monstrous $300M+ Domestic Launch; On Pace For $950M-$1B Global Debut

In the least surprising news of the century, Marvel's Avengers: Endgame is obliterating the box office and is currently on track to top $300M domestically and $1 billion worldwide in its opening frame.

Marvel's Avengers: Endgame is thundering toward an opening weekend unlike any we've ever seen and unlike any we may ever see again as, after its $140 million Friday (including $60M from Thursday previews), it's now on track to top $300 million in the United States this weekend, which would be the first time in cinematic history a film has hit that milestone in its opening frame domestically.

The film had already grossed $365 million prior to its release today (thanks in no small part to a gargantuan haul in China) and is well on its way to worldwide launch between $950 million and $1 billion, which is completely unprecedented territory. With those projections, it will shatter that current-record holder, Avengers: Infinity War, which debuted with $640.5 million worldwide last year.

According to Variety, the Infinity Saga finale will definitely shatter the following records this weekend: domestic weekend record, biggest China opening day, countless international single-day records, the Thursday domestic preview record, and most screens for one film. It also has a very legitimate chance at taking the records for biggest worldwide opening ever and the top market share for an opening weekend.

It's been over a decade since Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) started us off on this epic journey, and now, that journey comes to an end. However, before he can lend a hand in stopping Thanos (Josh Brolin), he's going to have to find his way back to Earth, but that looks to be easier said than done. Whatever it takes.

Nebula (Karen Gillan) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) aboard Rocket's (Bradley Cooper) ship, gearing up for the mission of a lifetime. Whether or not either hero will survive to tell the tale remains to be seen. Whatever it takes.

Nebula's (Karen Gillan) entire existence has been defined by pain, but at least she was able to find one saving grace in Gamora (Zoe Saldana). However, with her sister now gone, she'll be extra motivated to exact her revenge on Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

While this could easily be misdirection, the new suits seemingly suggest that War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) will be a part of the team that heads into the Quantum Realm. Whatever it takes.

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) takes on a protege. While her identity remains unknown, there are rumors it could be Kate Bishop, although that's anything but a certainty. Whatever it takes.

Captain America (Chris Evans) is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin) and fix reality. Now, let's just hope he knows we're all with him till the end of the line, too. Whatever it takes.

Considering his experience in the Quantum Realm, it's no surprise that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will be playing a key role, and it looks like Nebula (Karen Gillan) is coming too. Whatever it takes.

While we don't know for sure, it's been heavily rumored that the film will have a time jump of some sort and it looks like it may be fairly significant as Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is sporting a considerably different look, which does make sense if he's been operating as Ronin. Whatever it takes.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) gives his seal of approval to the team's newest member, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and seems to be quite on board with her spirited attitude and plan to take down Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming that's Thanos' (Josh Brolin) ship? Whatever it takes.

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) share a moment together, akin to their scene in The Avengers, before all hell breaks loose. As two of the only non-superpowered members of the team, their chances of survival seem slim, but, then again, they do have a knack for beating the odds. Whatever it takes.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) warmly welcomes Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to the team while Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) look on. Whatever it takes.

The God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) has been on quite a tear with Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, and now we can expect him to be at his absolute best in Avengers: Endgame as he looks to rectify his most unfortunate oversight, which means it's probably a safe bet that he'll go for the head this time. Whatever it takes.

Bruce Banner's (Mark Ruffalo) fan-favorite alter-ego abandoned him during the last battle, but that didn't stop the good doctor from doing his best to bring down Thanos (Josh Brolin) with the Hulkbuster, even though his efforts ultimately proved futile. This time, however, he'll be back with a vengeance. Whatever it takes.

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) takes a moment to mourn the fallen and reflect on everything Thanos' (Josh Brolin) has taken from them. She's also seen with longer hair, although the blonde tips do suggest that the time jump may not be as significant as we may have thought. Whatever it takes.

In one of the most heartbreaking shots we've seen, Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) reunites with Nebula (Karen Gillan) and finally learns the fates of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) while Nebula learns about Groot (Vin Diesel). With their family decimated, both will have to gather every last bit of strength they have to join the Avengers and take down Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

Avengers Assembled. From left-to-right: Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

While it's uncertain what's going on, it looks like they may be listening to either Thor (Chris Hemsworth) or Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). Whatever it takes.

"Do you trust me?"

"I do."

Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) reunite and it looks like they've finally put their differences aside to bring down the biggest threat they've ever seen: the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin). Whatever it takes.

The Avengers head off into space for the adventure of a lifetime, and while,Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) have plenty of experience in the great beyond, this will be the first otherworldly expedition for Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and War Machine (Don Cheadle).

This is also a scene that looks like it may take place early on as the full team isn't quite assembled just yet, and if we were to wager an educated guess, their journey may not ultimately result in them finding Thanos (Josh Brolin), but a stranded Armored Avenger (Robert Downey Jr.) instead.

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

@HeavyMetal4Life - these are numbers hither to undreamt of by any movie. And should not be under sold. This will never happen again. Ever.

@richal13 - been a staunch and avid hobbyist of Box Office numbers for 23 ywars and you are indeed 1000% correct.

The hurdles that had to be peapt just to get the mythical 100M opening day (Dec 2015) were unprecedented.

THIS literally is destroying box office financial paradigms and will be quoted and studied for years after this weekend.

@SauronthePower -
"studied for years after this weekend."

Doubt it really needs to be, success is down to the following obvious factors;
• Franchise has been going on for 10+ years allowing it to appeal to a wider age range than most franchises
• Franchise has a wealth of characters targetting different demographics
• Franchise has currently provided a fairly consistent quality of film
• Franchise set-up a cliffhanger with previous movie
• Quality of other movies has declined making the MCU franchise one of the only ones worth watching

The most interesting thing to look at will be the state of the MCU after. How will it go on after most the characters people are attached to are gone? Will people accept all the new characters or reject some of them?

I think Phase 5 will be very interesting in that respect. I can see a lot of people watching Phase 4 films to get a feel for the future of the MCU - but Phase 5 will be when people will have fully decided what they are doing. Luckily Phase 5 will bring in X-Men or Fantastic Four to get people to linger.

@incredibleTalk - Back from my second tonight. Tix for tomorrow and Tuesday in IMAX. Tried to go twice onThursday but couldn’t hang with the length on a 1:30am showing.

It had an absolute ton of missed opportunities and moments that were set-up in previous films that never happened.

Personally my number 1 missed opportunity is the lack of a 'House Party Protocol MK2' where we would see all 84 suits coming to help Tony - this would serve the story while allowing for fan service and tons of potential merchandise they could make.

@Scarilian - Didn't they all blow up at the end of IM 3 ? I know he could obviously make more but I thought having all the dead comeback and fight Thanos' army was quite poetic but I can certainly see your point to.

To be clear; this is not a spoiler-thread. If the headline warns of spoilers (with red text) then you can post all the spoilers you want within it. If there's no warning of spoilers in the headline (even if there may be one in the article itself) then it isn't a spoiler-thread.

@Nebula - I’ll be good, but you have to be crazy to be clicking on any kind of Endgame article and reading random comments if you’re trying to avoid spoilers.

Crazy, or really naive about the internet.

@Nebula - That’s still a gamble that a mod will see and remove a spoiler before you happen across it, which is all a timing thing. I just have low expectations of the Internet... I heard a football player spoiled the film for his hundreds of thousands of twitter followers after seeing it opening night, for instance.

I appreciate the efforts of the mods, though.
