The team behind Square Enix's
The Avengers Project is assembling, as developer Crystal Dynamics announced today a series of hires from January that'll bolster the development of the highly anticipated game.
Highlighting the group of hires is former Naughty Dog Creative Director Shaun Escayg, who
teased his transition to Crystal Dynamics and
The Avengers Project last month. Escayg joins Crystal Dynamics as Creative Director on
The Avengers Project. His resume at Naughty Dog includes Creative Director and writer of
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Director of Photography and Animation Supervisor on
The Last of Us. He also worked as an animator at Industrial Light & Magic.
Industry veteran Stephen Barry, who brings 27 years of experience with him, has been hired as Director of Production. Barry held multiple positions at Electronic Arts and was formerly the Director of Product Development at Visceral Games, working on several games during his career, including the
Dead Space franchise.
The remaining hires are comprised of
"world-renowned industry veterans, spanning production leadership, animation, design, art and engineering, who have previously worked on games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Dead Space, Star Wars: Battlefront and many more," according to Ron Rosenberg, Co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.
"Their AAA experience adds to an already deep roster, making us well-positioned to deliver on the ambitious goals we’ve set for ourselves with The Avengers project. It’s a stellar addition of many people who fit incredibly well into our wheelhouse of building game experiences we all love," he added.
The Avengers Project still doesn't have a release date, and is presumably still very early in development given the recent hirings. Still, there's incredible hype for the game, despite having no details and only a teaser trailer to go by.
