AVENGERS Star Chris Evans Rumored To Have Signed On For MCU Return - Here's When You'll See Him!

It sounds like Chris Evans has finally agreed to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe return after last appearing in Avengers: Endgame, but when and where will he appear as Captain America? Check it out!

In recent days, you've probably seen people celebrating the fifth anniversary of Avengers: Endgame on social media. Yes, it's been half a decade since that movie was released and we still don't know what became of Captain America.

The Statue of Liberty has been dedicated to the hero, but not even The Falcon and The Winter Soldier provided any definitive answers about the elderly Steve Rogers' fate beyond him being "gone."

Today, scooper @MyTimeToShineH is claiming that Chris Evans has finally agreed to reprise the role in Avengers: Secret Wars. We don't know if he'll also appear in the untitled Avengers 5, but it sounds like this is a done deal.

Before then, it's said we'll see the actor back in the MCU as soon as this summer when he shows up in Deadpool & Wolverine...as the Human Torch. We'd thought Marvel Studios might save that for an Avengers movie, though it would arguably lessen the impact of his return as Captain America (and an R-Rated movie should allow him to have some fun when he reprises his first major superhero role).

This is huge news if true and we can only assume fellow MCU vets Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson will eventually join him.

Last November, Evans was asked about the rumours he's gearing up to play Captain America and said, "You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me."

"I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and [Chris] Hemsworth, and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back!"

He added, "No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right."

Evans has often refused to close the door on playing Cap again and shared similar sentiments to these back a few months prior. "I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience," he said. "But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened."

"And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon."

We'll see what happens, but in many ways, this news doesn't come as a surprise. Marvel Studios enlisting the original six Avengers to close out the Multiverse Saga has been a given for some time now and is arguably a necessity following a hit-and-miss few years of storytelling.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26, while the next Avengers movies have been dated for May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027.
