Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) hasn't been heavily involved in the goings-on of the MCU since well before the end of the Infinity Saga, but as the grizzled former S.H.I.E.L.D. director told Rhodey (well, the Skrull posing as Rhodey) in Secret Invasion, "I’m Nick Fury. Even when I’m out, I’m In..."
We haven't seen Fury since the events of the highly divisive Disney+ series and The Marvels, but rumors have persisted that the ever-resilient super-spy will return at some point, and Jackson has now confirmed that he will be back for Avengers: Secret Wars.
The legendary Pulp Fiction star didn't actually name the film, but did reveal that he will have a role in "the one after" Avengers: Doomsday during an interview with The Direct.
"I have no idea [what it's about]. [Marvel] hasn't told me anything, other than, 'You're not gonna be in this movie. You'll be in the next.'"
This news probably won't come as much of a surprise, since Secret Wars will likely feature pretty much every major MCU character aside from a few members of the Guardians of the Galaxy. There's even a rumor doing the rounds that Scarlett Johansson is set to reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff, but we wouldn't put too much stock in that one for the time being.
Fury has been a key player in the MCU since the very start, debuting in 2008’s Iron Man to recruit Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) for the Avengers Initiative. Jackson went on to appear in numerous big and small-screen Marvel projects, including three of the four previous Avengers movies.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.
Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
"Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe."
