The Multiverse Saga that will play out during Marvel Studios' current Phase 5 of the MCU will culminate with two new Avengers movies, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, which are expected to bring various alternate reality characters together for an epic superhero smackdown.
Though nothing has been made official, persistent rumors and several plot "leaks" have indicated that we will see heroes from every MCU franchise - and even the 20th Century Fox X-Men and Fantastic Four movies - band together in an attempt to defeat Kang the Conqueror and his Variants.
While something like this might still be part of the plan, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness has now shared a surprising update on his progress with The Kang Dynasty's script.
“Yeah, it’s definitely a tricky thing," he said when asked about the challenge of writing a movie with so many moving parts during an interview with i09. "But much like when I took on this Ant-Man job, I can’t really focus on that outside stuff. I have just got to lay down the bones of a good story, hopefully, and find the characters that I want to tell [it]. And then it becomes a game of ping pong with the other people. Like whoever comes on and does Fantastic Four or Blade or — I’m probably not even using those characters, you know—but it all informs itself.”
While it's entirely possible that Loveness simply corrected himself to avoid potential spoilers here, there's a chance we don't know nearly as much as we think about Marvel Studios' plans for these films.
We'd be very surprised if the FF characters, especially, weren't part of Secret Wars, but maybe The Kang Dynasty will be a slightly smaller event than we've been led to believe?
