Avengers Forever is a great series released by Marvel from 1998 to 1999.  Great artwork, great story, great characters and it introduces the new Captain Marvel.  Here’s how it could eventually inspire the events of the MCU.

The major Avengers in the story include:

Giant-Man (or Goliath)
The Wasp
Captain Marvel
Songbird
Captain America
Hawkeye
Yellowjacket

Immortus (Kang), and the Time-Keepers believe that the human race, with Rick Jones as the catalyst, will develop powers and eventually conquer the universe.  They decide that he must die.

The Avengers fight back.

So, we have, Kang, a time-traveling Hank Pym, and a new Captain Marvel.
I feel like Rick Jones could easily be replaced by an Inhuman, or the Inhumans, and the catalyst could simply be Earth becoming too powerful because the Inhumans on Earth are becoming more and more powerful.

I know this is far-fetched but give me time-traveling Pym and Kang in the movies and I’ll be happy.  Captain Marvel is being introduced in the MCU soon, and seeing a young time-traveling Hank Pym with Stark, Banner, and Reed (when the rights come home in phase 4 or 5 ;) ) would be amazing.

Not just Reed but bring in the entire Fantastic 4 to this and it would be amazing.  I definitely want to see Dark Reign adapted as well but having Kang and time-travel in the MCU in phase 4 or 5 would be awesome, and they could take advantage of the amazing job Marvel has done with continuity.

Imagine Cap traveling back in time to World War II, or Stark traveling to the future.  Maybe even Banner traveling back in time and having to struggle and decide whether he should prevent his life changing Gamma Accident or not, and how that would affect the events of the future.

The possibilities are endless.

Anyway, I was thinking about this during the week and I thought I’d share.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think in the comments!

This sounds awesome. The MCu hasn't dove into time-travel yet. Phase 4 would be a good start. Kang is a must after Thanos is eventually defeated.

@dethpillow

It's a cool series, lots of crazy stuff going on. It's goes deep into Avengers history too, so much happening.

I think Kang is definitely with the Avengers, I feel like Kang is an Avengers villain more, but with Rama-Tut's connection to Apocalypse, maybe we'll see him in Fox's next movie. But, yeah, I can't imagine Marvel not having the rights to him.

and totally, a Time-Travel trilogy, I can only imagine, haha @sKeemAn , Time-Travel in the MCU would be amazing, I want it.

I also want Dark Reign though.... It'll be cool to see where they go after Infinity Wars

And, Spider-Man, so much potential for Spider-Man in the MCU, can't wait

I feel like you could've said a lot more here. As in the fact that each Avenger has been taken from a particular point in time. Could you imagine them bringing in a Captain America who's just discovered Bucky is Winter Soldier? How messed up he'd be if he was randomly thrown into a new situation would be amazing. Or a Hawkeye who's just watched Loki come through the portal? He never had time to really show his reaction to that, but the guy just basically witnessed an alien being invading the Earth.

There would be infinite possibilities for a story like Avengers Forever in the MCU because it would make for an incredble character-driven movie.

Avengers Forever is easily my favourite Avengers arc. Kurt Busiek is a freakin' genius.

I know, I didn't go into too much detail because I didn't want to spoil the comic....

And, definitely, the possibilities are endless.

Also, Stark possibly going back in time and having a face to face with Howard Stark, or watching Winter Soldier assassinate him. Pym going back in time to try and save Janet. The possibilities are literally endless.

And at the core of all of this would be Kang.

Y'know, when you put it like that, an entire Phase worth of Forever movies would be freakin' awesome. Just seeing all the heroes end up back in a different point in time, knowing what's going to happen and having to battle with the idea of changing the future. That would be really interesting to see.
