Never a bad way to start a commercial, in my opinion.

My what tight shirts you wear, Captain!

@brazilianbatman

If that happens, I'm just going to start laughing maniacally. That's a suspended disbelief I just can't get with.

Yall do realize that he's done that SEVERAL times in the comics, right?

@0sagemode0

More times than not, it's usually with a parachute. I imagine the live-action movie, however grounded in fantasy it may be, will adhere to the rules of logic and common sense.

He's been shown with the parachute already in one of the trailers.

@Brazillianbatman

You might as well walk out before that because according to your logic, he shouldnt be dressed up like an american flag. An advanced suit of armor like ironman's doesnt exist, and aliens like on the trailer wouldnt invade earth. There also wouldnt be a flying air craft carrier. Just sticking with your logic there.

We have already seen in previous trailers that Cap is wearing a chute when he jumps out of that plane. Even if he wasn't, I would think a man with seriously enhanced strength and stamina (shown in TFA to hold a Harley with two women on it over his head) surviving that drop would be easier to believe than say...a a man holding a woman who falls out of a skyscraper and walks away. I'm sure that has been shown in a movie somewhere.

Just sayin. =D

some folks always finds something they could pick on to start debates and in the process showing they're own biases. who cares it's till from comic books and it's not even a Nolan after all. Off Topic - (how about Him (Nolan) start Humanizing Supes for a change then?)

every team needs a captain - a big YES!

I've been encouraged by what we've seen of the film so far overall but I have to say that I still think they are missing something very important about capturing Cap. Namely, where is the acrobatic, two-fisted fighting style? There was none of it in the Captain America movie (at least non that captured the best of it from the comics) and I don't understand why.
In the Incredible Hulk, we saw Blonski show glimpses of it in his battle with the Hulk. We even saw excellent examples of it in the commercials for the Captain America video game. With all the motion capture techniques available to them now, I just don't understand how this can continually be over looked.
Don't get me wrong. Chris Evans does a good job of looking and acting the part, but the bad ass part of Captain America has always been the fact that he used agility, acrobatics and two-fisted toughness to offset his lack of "super powers."
I'd love to see this in the movie but I didn't see it in the Cap movie and I'm not seeing it in the previews. That's the one thing that's bugging me.

Why can't I stop watching these clips?!

Something about that shot of him sliding over the car makes me feel pretty good about how he'll be depicted visually in this movie.

TheMyth

BrazillianBatman, well if you don't read the comics, maybe you should shut the [frick] up then. Also, you should look up the term "terminal velocity" and you will discover that there is a maximum speed at which an object of a given mass can reach in a free fall. If Batman, in armor and all weighs around 250 pounds (roughly 113 kg for you metric users) his terminal velocity is around 200mph (about 320 km/hour, again for you metric users). Now, it takes a 250-pound object 4 seconds (depending on wind resistance) to reach 50% terminal velocity, which is 100mph... in 4 seconds! At 8 seconds he's falling ~150mph. It takes about 15 seconds, if I plugged the formula right, to reach 99%. While it would be a VERY tall building to allow a 15 second free-fall, as you can see, 4 seconds is more than enough to kill, which he's done several times in the 2 Nolan flics alone. "But Myth, what about his cape acting as a parachute?" Well I'm glad you asked. His cape lacks the surface area to slow him with any significance. While on the 4 second fall, timely deployment MIGHT save his life, it wouldn't save his legs which would be crippled or his pelvis which would likely be crushed also... and lets not forget the spinal damage. At terminal velocity it would certainly kill him. Please don't make me find out the surface area of his cape to prove my point... BTW, did you walk out of TDK when Bats and Rachael dropped from that skyscraper and flattened a car with their impact but both miraculously survived AND walked away? Yea... didn't think so.

They're superheroes... S-U-P-E-R-H-E-R-O-E-S. And you you wanna split hairs now? Regardless, it's already been shown to you that your eyes are just laggy and he does have a 'chute.

niknik
niknik - 4/2/2012, 10:04 AM
......and as has already been pointed out, Cap has jumped without a parachute on a few occasions using his shields ablitity to absorb impact. Again far fetched but these are COMIC BOOKS and thus COMIC BOOK MOVIES. Get the picture? It's Fiction boys and girls so suspend this need to put it in factual terms and enjoy it for what it is.

That also applies to all those people the seem to need armor and helmets on every non-bulletproof hero these days. Give it a rest already.
Oxion

Nolan's mess? How can it be a mess be as thought out and successful as his version of Batman is? "Mess" is a personal opinion. That fact the majority of people still talk so positively about it only proves how great it really was. Or can you name a better CBM that has come close to that films success? and don't name Spiderman cuz apparently since people saw the first trailer for the new movie, they've suddenly disowned the previous series. Sad.
