GAME OF THRONES Star Kit Harington Wants To Know Why A Gay Actor Hasn't Starred In A Marvel Movie

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is busy promoting his new movie The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, and the actor has some thoughts about Marvel Studios not casting a gay actor as a superhero...

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has promised that more LGBTQ characters are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase 4, and while that's definitely exciting, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is more interested in why an openly gay actor hasn't been cast in the MCU as a superhero.

An argument could, of course, be made that someone's sexuality shouldn't factor into who
they're cast as and why, but Harington offered a strong explanation about why it does actually matter quite a lot.

"There’s a big problem with masculinity and homosexuality that they can’t somehow go hand in hand," he explained. "That we can’t have someone in a Marvel movie who’s gay in real life and plays some super hero. I mean, when is that going to happen?" It's easy to see where he's coming from but a gay actor playing a straight superhero isn't quite as important as gay characters being shown on screen and serving as role models in the same way Black Panther has to the black community.

All gay actors aren't public about it. It's not Marvel's job to OUT people.

Mr. Harrington... Gay actors are cast playing roles all over the big screen and small screen, so there is representation. Gay actors, play gay characters, straight actors play gay characters, gay actors play straight. I think what matters, when it comes to the MCU is the actors ability to bring the character they're playing to life.. and not their sexual orientation.

I'm pretty sure there have been gay actors in Marvel films, but either way, the actors' sexuality shouldn't matter to anyone.

Add to that, Ian McKellen FFS... okay, more villain than hero, but still 'super' and not a one-dimensional single-story villain, he is also one of the world's great stage actors. It looks like Ygritte was sorta right, Jon Show or at least Kit Harington DOES know nothing.

Stupid thing to say.. making out like marvel don’t want to cast a gay actor in a main role ... really it’s down to fact that the actors they have chosen so far to play main roles happen to be straight... nothing to do with sexuality

Honest to god some people in the industry need a slap it’s just to stir crap 💩

Does it really matter?
This is not about quotas, it's about qualifications regarding talent and skills.
