Joss Whedon Assures Quicksilver's In THE AVENGERS 2 Despite X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Last week, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer announced via Twitter the inclusion of the mutant Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, one week after the character and his sister, Scarlet Witch, were confirmed to join The Avengers sequel. While the last-minute cast addition was said to spite Marvel Studios and assert Fox Studios' partial ownership of the character, The Avengers director Joss Whedon reconfirms that plans have not changed on his and Marvel Studios' end.

"And so continues the Q and not-A…," Joss Whedon joked after being asked about the Quicksilver character rights dilemma during a Q&A which followed a special Much Ado About Nothing screening. He added, "That's not something I can really talk about, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are going to be in the movie and they're going to be AWESOME." So, there you have it; we can still look forward to Pietro and Wanda Maximoff assembling with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2015, after Pietro unites briefly with the X-Men next year. On a different note, Whedon was also asked of any Marvel character he wishes he could "do." "If I could get my hands on absolutely anybody it would be Batman. (audience applause) He's a Marvel character in the DC universe. And if I could 'do' any, probably Thor, because face it, those arms… (laughs)" What do you think?

So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, with Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, Marvel's The Avengers untitled sequel is written and directed by Joss Whedon, and starts shooting early next year for a May 1, 2015, release date.
