Kevin Feige Sheds Some Light On The Recent Lack Of MARVEL ONE-SHOTS

It's been quite some time since Marvel included one of their "One-Shots" short films on a Blu-ray release, so where have they gone exactly? Kevin Feige has now shed some light on that, confirming that there are more than a few ideas still sitting on the shelf. Hit the jump for details...

It's been a long time since we've seen a Marvel One-Shot, something which is quite a surprise considering just a couple of the most recentones helped to launch the Agent Carter TV series and even teased possible plans for Iron Man 4. So, where have they gone? When Collider pointed out that many fans are disappointed that they haven't been featured on a Blu-ray for a while, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige replied: "I’m disappointed too! Frankly, and I think it would be great to see more one-shots. We’ll see…" That sounds like the movies have been put on indefinite hold.

However, Feige couldn't provide any solid details, and it appears as if the decision to scrap the One Shots wasn't his. "You look at me as if I’m the only person who controls that decision; I wish that were the case. But I think when the opportunity arises we would do it, we would jump on it. There is a backlog of ideas for one-shots that we haven’t done yet." This could be a case of the ever frugal Marvel saving money then, which is definitely a shame. After all, they know that a short movie isn't really going to drive sales up that much. What do you guys think? Sound off below...

There isn't anything to fix plotwise atm, so that's why they aren't doing any shorts

ThedamnBatman - 7/1/2015, 9:55 AM
The Consultant and All hail the king were mainly to fix some plotpoints, A funny thing happened on the way, was to showcase more of coulson to make him more familiar, and Item 47 was for Sitwell to be introduced smoothly

It sucks, but there's really no financial incentive for them to make any more. Blu-ray sales are going down with everything going digital and Netflix and all that, so it's simply not worth the time, effort, and money to film these shorts and then just attach it to the Blu-ray set as an extra.

It's a shame to see them go but I can understand their decision. Financially its a cost which doesn't generate more BLu-Ray Disc sales. Plus they were getting bigger (and costlier) each time. All Hail the King was the very best One-Shot. Incredibly funny!

A Punisher one shot would be awesome

But it might be cooler to just save Punisher for Daredevil

I miss the One-Shots. they provided small tidbits in the MCU that I enjoyed seeing.

I can understand why they are dying out though. They were purely for fan service.

@aXe They did more than that though. The consultant, yeah that was to clear up some issues and so was part of All Hail The King. But AHTG also introduced a founding defender, Luke Cage's prison, Frank Castle's family's murders, brought back Hammer, and let us know there was still a true Mandarin amongst the real Ten Rings. Agent Carter was for fun and we got the Zodiac and foundation of SHIELD. A funny thing happened on the way to Thor's hammer didn't make Coulson any more familiar to the general audience, it was a short on a blu-ray. And Item 47? we had Sitwell appear before, and the outcome of that story led to the Hydra weapons in AoU.

Sooo... somewhat important

Yea save Punisher for the Netflix shows.

@WakandasSoul
well the consultant was to fix the end credits of TIH, as the plan was back then to have the avengers form to capture Hulk, but since that changed, the ending of TIH wasn't making any sense anymore so they had to salvage that somehow, so these One-Shots were originally born to fix plot points, after the succes of both, they tried their hand at Item 47 which fans didn't like. And Agent Carter which basically went no where. So the only one shot they did after that, they had to do to gain fanboys trust and backtrack the Mandarin twist in the IM3. Right now, there is no need for any fixes or additions, so they re not wasting any money to do those

@WinterOstritch

Exactly, so all were kind of needed to progress the universe and in some fix a couple stuff, so right now there is no need for these, as they have plenty of ways to do it outside the movies since there are tv shows in the same universe now

The Punisher will fulfill the desire to see the MCU Mandarin die.

ThedamnBatman - 7/1/2015, 10:07 AM
Don't get me wrong guys, I'm all for more one-shots, but as far as the MCU is going, there is really no need from a financial point. And this is a business first and foremost

I just assumed they were very unprofitable and with AoS and Agent Carter I don't really miss them.

Sorry Feige but if you take the credit for Marvel Studios then you also have to answer to the complaints… Bring back the One Shots! Coulsons was my favorite!

This is a pretty light Flame War Wednesday. I'll guess we'll have to wait for that pic of the Trinity later today.

Bring them back! They have to find a way to make them valuable though. Maybe get netflix to buy them so they can show them as short films on netflix? Or maybe make them preludes to movie like they sometimes have in theaters. The fact is they don't boost blu ray sales or anything really. So they don't have incentive to make them
