Mark Ruffalo On Playing THE HULK; Discusses His One Line In THE AVENGERS

The actor speaks about performing the actions of the Green Goliath in his mo-cap suit, drawing inspiration from the old Bill Bixby tv series, and that one spoken line of dialogue which fans may have missed due to laughing so much!..

Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of Bruce Banner and his cgi alter ego in The Avengers is emerging as the talking point of the movie. Many fans feel his take on the character steals the show. Marvel are well aware of this and seem set to embark on more solo movie outings, hopefully with Ruffalo reprising the role. USA Today have posted a video interview with the actor, in which he discusses the various aspects of playing The Hulk. He says the moment when it really hit him how to approach the performance happened while watching the '60s tv series with his son. He also describes the experiences of performing the actions for The Hulk while wearing a tight-fitting leotard. And, speaks about The Hulk's one line in the movie - "Puny God" - which many people seemed to miss because the scene that precedes it (Hulk "smashing Loki repeatedly) resulted in so much laughter..

Marvel's The Avengers is out now, if you haven't seen it yet do so immediately.

Hulk solo film with the villain as The Leader, that was an awesome easter egg in The Incredible Hulk.

Hulk stole the show and he definitely smashed

Where are all of the Ruffalo haters? Those who thought he was "too tan" when they cast him? Very good casting.

I assumed that when Banner was told that Shield had been shadowing him the whole time and kept other interests off his back, that they meant The Leader.

The Hulk / Thor fight was one of the highlights of the movie for me. Just wish it was longer, which is exactly how the moviemakers hope you'll feel.

@thalidomide That scene comepletly sold me on Mark as Banner. That scene was incredible!!! I completely lost it!!! lol

I think it was Ruffalo's voice and it didn't sound deep enough for me , the Hulk needs to have a deep voice and use it more too .

I personally liked Norton's interpretation of Banner =) I just hate the fact that they keep switching actors 4 the Hulk.N IF RDJ gets replaced I think that'll throw off the audience. I mean RDJ is IM much like Hemsworth is THOR!! In the end who the [frick] can pick up where RDJ left off!!?? That's like asking who's can pick up where Heath left off as the next Joker?? The bar is set high!!!

Another ? on my mind how the [frick] was IM able 2 communicate with the other Avengers?? They didn't have an ear piece with exception with Capt. America I would presume. With the helmet hidden an ear piece right?? just nitpicking lol XD

Hulk is becoming the Silent Bob of the MCU - he doesn't speak much but when he does, you'll want to hear what he's got to say!

I for one hated Mark Ruffalo until RDJ demanded us to shut the hell up during the ComicCon announcement as he endorsed his casting.

So what was Ferrigno doing if not the voice of Hulk? Does he just provide the growls and roars?
MarkV
MarkV - 5/8/2012, 8:12 AM
Remember when the lying steroid addict Lou Ferigno claimed that his voice was the Hulk's? Yeah, the same Lou Ferigno that sued his own brother and charges little kids $20 dollars to take his picture. Maybe next time people will take what he says with a grain of salt.
MarkV
MarkV - 5/8/2012, 8:13 AM
You know how to tell if Lou Ferrigno is lying? Just wait till he opens his mouth. Steroid addicts are always lying about if or how much steroids they use, so it's second nature to lie and lie and lie.

I thought the one line was "that's my secret, Cap... I'm always angry!"

That was the best one IMO.
Greengo
Greengo - 5/8/2012, 8:24 AM
Yeah I didn't hear it until the 2nd time I watched the movie cause Hulk smashing Loki caused quite the uproar.

I really wasn't impressed with Ruffalo. Just kind of a bland performance, imo.

I think Ed Norton and Eric Bana where better.

@Greengo - no way bana was better. If Ruffalo was bland as you say, Bana looked retarded.

I gotta admit I was on the Norton wagon before the Avengers but now I wish Ruffalo was in TIH instead.

"papa...he is so misunderstood"...from the mouths of babes..And THIS is why marvel has been successful. Just like in Cap the "I don't like bullys" or "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn". Marvel, and the actors it has chosen, understand their characters, what makes them tick, and most importantly...WHY WE CARE ABOUT THEM!!!!
