Marvel Eyeing KICK-ASS Star Aaron Johnson For 'Quicksilver' Role In THE AVENGERS 2

While Fox moves forward with Evan Peters playing Quicksilver in the forthcoming X-Men movie, Peters' Kick-Ass co-star Aaron Johnson is reportedly being eyed for the role in Marvel's The Avengers sequel.

When the Maximoffs, Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver, were confirmed last month as new Avengers 2 recruits, director Joss Whedon stated he was in the early process of casting the super-powered siblings. While Irish actress Saoirse Ronan is reportedly a "prototype" for Wanda Maximoff, The Wrap & Deadline now report that English thesp Aaron Johnson is in early talks for Pietro Maximoff.

Scheduling issues may prevent Aaron Johnson from taking up Marvel's offer as the Kick-Ass star is in "high-demand" and currently filming the Godzilla remake. However, the 22-year-old actor is currently Marvel's top choice for the Quicksilver role, with other potential candidates unknown.

Before joining The Avengers 2, Quicksilver will appear briefly during X-Men: Days of Future Past next year, ironically, played by Aaron Johnson's Kick-Ass co-star Evan Peters. Seemingly after learning of Marvel Studios' plans for the speedster, Fox studios asserted its partial ownership of the character by adding him to X-Men director Bryan Singer's mutant line-up. However, Evan Peters' portrayal of Pietro Maximoff is limited to a cameo while Aaron Johnson would have a starring role.

So far starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, with Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, Marvel's The Avengers untitled sequel is written and directed by Joss Whedon, and starts shooting early next year for a May 1, 2015, release date.
