More From Kevin Feige On Captain America And The Avengers!

In some more highlights from his recent Q&A, he discusses casting Chris Evans as Captain America after he's already played a superhero, comments on the character place in The Avengers, and says to expect Red Skull pictures soon...

In his lengthy Q&A with The Los Angeles Times: Hero Complex on Friday, it was easy to miss some of what Feige had to say (for all that info which includes loads of new stuff on current and future Marvel Studios movies, click HERE) so here are the final few highlights from that interview which I thought you guys might find interesting.

On Chris Evans As Captain America And Sebastian Stan As Bucky:

"We figured if Harrison Ford could be Indiana Jones and Han Solo, Chris Evans could play Torch and Cap. Bucky plays an important part in the film. Sebastian Stan's done a tremendous job playing him."

On Whether Captain America Will Be Able To Match Up To Iron Man And Thor In The Avengers:

"Evans owns the screen as Cap and is going to hold his own and then some."

On When We Can Expect To See The First Pictures Of Hugo Weaving As The Red Skull:

"You’ll be seeing it soon enough. And believe me, he looks amazing. More Cap pics coming early next year."

On Whether Captain America, Thor And The Avengers WIll Feature After-Credit Scenes:

"Some of them will..."

He also confirmed that neither Nick Fury or The Invader will feature in Captain America: The First Avenger's WWII scenes, and that we can expect to see a trailer for that movie as soon as the New Year. What do you guys make of the above information? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

very excited to seeing trailers & photo's of the red skull.

after the credits moment for thor should be something like finding cap in ice or coulson bringing in a soaking wet shield to nick fury.

as for captain america after the credits moment maybe nick fury could introduce captain america to thor & iron man on board the shield helicarrier.

Evans has owned the screen in everything he has been in, in spite of the fact that some of the movies were not that good. I don't have a doubt in my mind that he "will be Captain America". And I don't doubt that he can hold his own next to Downey or anybody else that will be in The Avengers.

Great stuff Josh.

Yeah, we won't see more Cap pics until early next year, so doubtful a trailer will be released prior to that.

"neither Nick Fury or The Invader will feature in Captain America: The First Avenger's WWII scenes"

Key word is "feature" and it is interesting he specified "in WWII scenes". If they weren't going to appear at all, wouldn't he say neither will be in the film?

I like how they talk about it...

Come on MARVEL, we want RED SKULL pics know!

I just knew that INVADERS was bs, or they knew they couldn't pull it off, either was MARVEL...

Howz about that INVADERS movie?

I would have loved it if the invaders were in this but oh well. It would have been cool to have the orginal Nick Fury in the film but maybe have him under a different name. Or have him as a relative to Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury. The Howling Commandos will be cool though.
Bigbywolf
Bigbywolf - 12/12/2010, 9:29 AM
@ Leee777

unfortunately they can't do the invaders because Fox owns The Human Torch's image. And since the 1st Human Torch and 2nd Human torch look the same they seem to own both characters.
However in saying that I'm sure Marvel could find a legal way of getting round it, like Change the image. If they had to they could just call him The Torch if the name is a problem.
Hell they really needed to they could just replace the Torch with The Vision. They're fairly similar characters anyway although admittly different powers.

But yeah Invaders film would be so awesome. I'm hoping that they will do an Invaders spinoff show from the Advengers cartoon series.

Thanks guys! :) I would imagine that they'll probably reveal Chris Evans in his full Captain America attire (possibly both the USO version and the one we've already see him maskless in) along with Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull sometime pretty soon next year before the trailer hits. My guess is that that'll be either February or March.

As for The Invaders, I'm not too bothered by them not being in the movie. It's not that I didnt want to see the team, it's just that I think the focus should be primarily on Captain America, Bucky and the Red Skull. They've only got 2+ hours to tell the entire WWII story after all! Personally, I'd like to see a 10 hour series similar to Band of Brothers which would explore their origins, formation and adventures. (with brief cameos from Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan!)

And HAWKS, you're completely right. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Chris Evans/Captain America is more than capable of not being overshadowed by RDJ/Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth/Thor. The guy is a fantastic actor, and while I still sort of wish Jensen Ackles had got the part, I cant think of anyone better to do Steve Rogers justice.

No argument there except Indiana Jones doesn't live in the Star Wars universe.

Sounds like they really like what Chris has done or they are blowing smoke... I'd expect them to have Caps trailer for the Superbowl or one of those award shows hopefully sooner, i mean they did release the first real Thor trailer only 5 months before its to be released...

February or March? Don't you think that's pushing it way too close to the release date? I mean, the fact that we just now got the Thor trailer this late in the game is bad enough for Marvel. Time is precious. I can't see them affording to lose any more months. The time for marketing is NOW.
GinGuilt
GinGuilt - 12/12/2010, 10:56 AM
I think that Captain America is being made in a bigger rush than Incredible Hulk and that raises the chances of sucking of the film.

GinGuilt
GinGuilt - 12/12/2010, 10:59 AM
@Xenix

are you crazy?! Just because MARVEL don't own the rights,it doesn't mean that Capitain America and the Fantastic Four belong to different universes.

I mean,I still don't know any good reason that justifies Chris Evans.
ckirk8
ckirk8 - 12/12/2010, 11:04 AM
I have a nice, reasonable idea. Let's wait until we see Captain America: TFA before we start judging whether or not Chris Evans makes a good Cap. The director and producers saw something in him, so let's give him a chance. And besides, think about it. Does it really matter that Evans played the Human Torch, especially since Fox is planning to reboot the Fantastic Four anyway?

MintBerryCrunch
MintBerryCrunch - 12/12/2010, 11:10 AM
Xenix is right. Marvel's Cinematic Universe is disconnected from any Marvel movies not produced by Marvel Studios. If you truly believe that Chris Evans's portrayals of both the Human Torch and Captain America creates some kind of paradox then you're pretty much retarded.
ckirk8
ckirk8 - 12/12/2010, 11:30 AM
@GinGuilt

I don't think there's any need to worry about rushing Captain America considering it doesn't come out until July. According to Stanley Tucci, they pretty much just finished up filming, so they have a good 6 months for post.

I wonder if Namor MIGHT have a hand in SHIELD finding Cap. I also think that Wakanda and T'Chaka MIGHT appear or have mention at least in regards to Cap's Shield. This is just speculation on my part conceived while considering Feiges wordplay these past few days.

It's all good. I can't effing wait. I'm with all of this ... although it would've been nice to see Sam Jackson as Nick Fury in the WWII stuff.
kakinurmawth
kakinurmawth - 12/12/2010, 7:51 PM
The only problem I'm having with this movie so far is that nick fury and the invaders ain't gonna be there (hopefully the cameos will be there). I can understand them wanting to focus on Cap's origin and formation, but what made him Captain America was his fighting alongside the invaders and Fury. That's what formed him... The moment i saw Sam Jackson at the end of IM1 my uber excitedness dropped to a "NNOOOOOO!" moment cause I figured Cap's film wouldn't include Nick Fury. I just hope I'm wrong and that tidbit from IM2 about Fury knowing Tony's dad is the excuse to have him at LEAST cameo....

EVEN THOUGH I feel that way, I'm still WICKED excited for this film and I trust Marvel to form their most iconic captain in tyhe most epic way they can!!

Great find @JOSH

Just a quick note to people saying things along the lines of "it wasn't like that in the comics"; it's an adaptation. A lot of things will HAVE to be changed in order for it to translate well onto the big screen and make it more appealing to a wider audience.
I'm glad Fury and co. are not in the WW2 parts of Captain America. It'd waste time. Time that needs to be spent on Cap's origin story and character development.

@ Idiot4lolz - From what I've heard, it starts and ends in modern times, so I reckon Fury & SHIELD will find Cap and thaw him at the beginning, it'll flashback to WW2, and return to modern times at the end. Like I say, that's just what I've heard/read.
