The latest from this year's New York Comic Con comes via Marvelous News, depicting Kotobukiya's preview of their upcoming fine arts statue modeled after Iron Man's new mark 7 armor in Marvel's The Avengers movie. Although only in the sculpting stage, unlike promo art, it does offer a detailed look at the yet-to-be-revealed armor in the movie. Check out images below.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

I like it and can't wait to see it in Avengers, but I would rather want to see the Hulk Buster armour!

Looking good Kotobukiya!... but all of the leading traditional statue-makers (your good-selves included) have got to up their game when it comes to detail, pose, paint-finishes and (importantly) price, because HotToys are kicking even their butts with their versions with the added bonus of them being posable!.

Still love my Kotobukiya Catwoman though!.

Looking nice, best armor in the live-action line so far in my opinion. :) It's quite buff yet it also looks slender...weird mixture but looking awesome.

I really like this newest armour, best one so far. But I wish it still had the triangle arc reactor from the Mark VI

People.... His arc reactor has always been circular, it's just the chest piece. I want the Hulkbuster! Doesn't look like we will in this movie....

I for one like the circular chest piece way better than the triangular one, but that's just me. I'm sure he'll start off with the IM2 armor and advance to this and I like it a lot. Still, like many others, I am hoping for a Hulk Buster armor at some point in the movie (even if it's only for like one pivotal scene like the suitcase armor in IM2) and almost can't see a comic geek like Joss not wanting to do it when given the chance- fingers crossed.
