Previously-Seen THE AVENGERS Promos In Ultra HQ With Thor And Captain America!

Offering a much detailed look at Thor and Captain America's superhero getup, check out ultra high-quality promos featuring the two, familiar from previously-revealed banners.

Roaming the net, I set eyes on two ultra high-quality promotional photos featuring actors Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in their superhero garb for Marvel's ultimate film The Avengers. Although we've seen smaller versions beside their fellow Avengers, in the form of a banner, the below photos offer a cropped much-detailed look at Thor and Captain America's upper getup.

Notice the inscriptions on Thor's armor plates; I'm assuming it relates to the actual Norse Mythology, if those are indeed inscriptions. But that alone shows how much detail and thought they've put into it. I can't imagine "whoever holds this hammer, shall...," being what it translates, but what do you think? Also, notice the clean-cut material used for Cap's costume.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

THOR's armor actually looks metal instead of rubber on here. Hope it looks like that in the movie. Cap is hilarious. Big, wet, alien cat eyes. Looks like he's trying to seduce someone.

@N

Off the top d my head, I think it's "you're unworthy of these realms." Nothing pertaining to the plates exactly I'm afraid.

Why's Cap looking so seductive?... Seriously though, his face has been photoshopped to DEATH.

and @Neo - Everyone's rocking new armor in Avengers, including Thor. There have been very significant tweaks tweaks and changes to his armor, and IMO make all the difference. Like you said, it now looks metal instead of armor, there's much more detail work, and he's no longer wearing biker pants.

Lmao!
All the pics released by Marvel so far all look so cheap and plastic! I'm starting to be put off the movie because it really does look like one long toy commercial :(

@WellDrawn Thank the gods for movie magic then. The on-set photos have the same chest piece as obviously rubber. But the discs in this photo have surface and metal grade. I hope I'm not being photosopped pimped and it looks liek that in the film, cause that looks damn good. One of my few gripes about THOR was the armor. That's why I dont mind him not wearing the helmet. Its one big piece of plastic.

@Amazo Yeah, it might seem that way because the news is really slow on the Avengers as of late. or at least slow in terms of getting some really good chunks of revealing new stuff. So, when you get a bunch of stock artwork and the same promo pics daily, you might start to think your walking through Toys R Us. So thats fair.

Whedon Shouldn't have changed Thors suit and, Caps looks like shit, too [frick]ing clean. and plastic looking....but I suppose you gotta sell those toys somehow.

Still nothing we haven't seen, its the EXACT same poses and we rarely get actual pics only the damn drawings. Lamest advertising ever.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 12/18/2011, 3:58 AM
@Bastard I definitely prefer the original chest piece over the new one. But up until this picture of the Avenger piece, it looked like a rubber vest on set. It's an improvement if it will have that texture in the film. The blue jogging suit pants aren't the greatest either, but they are the less of two weevils being that the original pants and boots looke like Biker gear.

THOR2 needs a bit of this ...

Maybe add chain mail to the pants and not necesarily the entire pants. Or perhaps make the chains darker for the pants.

That's not Chris Evans on the photo, that's why they are covering his face,That doesn't even look like his eyes.

Jolt17 - 12/18/2011, 4:21 AM
Um, actually no, as far as my knowledge reaches (I've read a lot about Norse myth), those tiny bits on Thor's armor are nowhere close to Norse runes. Not 100%, but so far I'd say those are not Norse writings. (More like alien texts.)

Oh, and Captain America looks great to me...Cap FTW. :)
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 12/18/2011, 4:28 AM
I think that's Evans. Look at the nose and what top-mouth area you can see. They went in too hard on the eyes. They look unnatural. The casual shield toss lol. Action packed, yet seductive.

I will hit you with my shield, then ask you out.
