I'm tired of arguing about these two movies, I will see both and I'm sure I will enjoy myself. Competition is fun but this has gotten old, stale and boring now.

Just let the movies come out and speak for themselves.

ArtisticE...if you're tired, then why bother reading and responding to it...??? duh..!!

anyways...as much as i LOVE nolan's batman (which i think should go on forever and not just the trilogy)...this year, i'm afraid i'm ALL FOR The Avengers.

but, i gotta say, i prefer IMAX than 3-D. so, those stoopid disney people, i think made the wrong move here by converting avengers into 3-d. i think marvel and/or Joss Whedon shoulda gone for shooting the movie as an IMAX film. now THAT will be HUUUUUGELY awesommmmmme.....

Box Office TDKR will win, batman is too popular.
But as far as quality and epicness goes, The Avengers will own all.

I don't care who's winning, I'm seeing both.

@EarOne: I also prefer IMAX over 3D, but I understand there are more 3D theaters than IMAX, so Disney's decision is understandable.

Now that thumbnail split screen of Thor and Batman - wouldn't that make for an epic battle?

Anyways ...

Avengers win for me. I just can't see how a movie that has The Hulk, Thor and Iron Man flying around kicking the crap out of hundreds of aliens could ever be anything other than amazing. As much as I know TDKR will be a fantastic movie and trilogy closer, it just won't be able to withstand the moment the Avengers assemble for the first time, no matter how bad the rest of the movie might be.

the avengers will be the winner of this fight.

the amazing spider-man may destroy both,spider-man 3 the worse of the spider-man films but took the most money.

don't count out spidey.

I don't care which one makes the most money, that means shit. Scott Pilgrim was one of the most awesome movies I've seen in decades, and it was technically a flop. I absolutely refuse to see IMAX or 3D films, they only exist to legally steal your cash and avoid police investigation later on.

When it comes to my CBMS, I want accuracy to source and entertainment. We've seen what Bane and Catwoman have to offer in TDKR, and Nolanite or not, their accuracy has been found wanting. I'm still going to watch it though, if only to complete the set.

The Amazing Spider-Man seems to be (on account of the trailers) to be walking in the 'Dark Knight' path, which pisses me straight the hell off. Spidey only has dark periods in life, not an entire gloomy persona. I may skip TAS completely and wait for home viewing.

The Avengers has the accuracy and the entertainment value, along with the entire aspect of several movies combining forces to bring all the protagonists under one heading. Astounding to me how people leave that out so often. And, if even one ounce of the rumors show up in that new trailer, like say Hulk slamming Iron Man around by his leg, or him and Thor going toe to toe, all other summer events will be left by the wayside...

Critically speaking, TDKR will win over Avengers. This would be quite hard to dispute even considering no one has seen either yet.

Box Office is a different ball game. The Avengers does have the advantage of appealing to both a young and older audience where as TDKR is less colorful and more dramatic which cuts out a portion of the younger audience. On the other hand, Nolan's reputation of making great movies could still win out. It's a tough call.

It's probable that TDKR will win the box office fight -- the anticipation is huge because it's the sequel to the highest grossing CBM ever and the last movies in a trilogy tend to make the most money. I don't know if it will out-gross TDK, but it might, and that's going to make it the highest grossing CBM ever.

I think THE AVENGERS will be the better movie, more entertaining and fun, a big explosion-y summer blockbuster with some serious underlying theme. I'm not a fan of the Nolan Bat-movies, so the less said, the better. I hope he doesn't drown the movie in too much dreary muck.

TASM, I see grossing well but well below Spidey 3. Reboots always tend to do modestly. BATMAN BEGINS did modest box office, ditto SUPERMAN RETURNS. Both did in the ~$400 mil. range, which I can see pushed up to ~$500 mil. for 3D reboot Spidey.

AVENGERS, best guess, $700-800 mil.

TDKR, maybe $900+?

THE HOBBIT blows them all out of the water.

Another no-brainer. Nolan & company will steal the show by a landslide.
