Would you like to see some pictures of people that know they own the world? There you go.

Kinda surprised Putin didn't manage to get in any photos.

The Hiddles and Hemsworth pics are probably the most slash-tacular pics I have ever seen ever. I applaud their awesomeness

It's curious how the U.S. government manufacture tension and distrust of Russia , yet on the streets of Moscow the people are lovin' us!

Maybe we should have our MARVEL heroes act as diplomats!
Looks like they'll get things done.

BTW, the Russian press looooooves Scarlet. She's the at the center of most of the photos.
Well, can you blame them!

@headlopper - Its not so much distrust of "Russia" as distrust of their dear leader.

@Fogs

If I'm not mistaken, Chris Evans suffers from social anxiety, so I'm not surprised if he doesn't show up for a few PR events.

Not a big fan of the big crowds or lights...which is clearly why he went into show business.

@SuperDuperness - Actually I believe he's somewhere else in the world, since he was in Brazil while the folks were in London. But your theory is good too :)

@MassExecutions - Maybe.
However I've got to know of few Russians here , and they're really nice people. Most don't particularly like their former government in Russia, so I think what you said is valid.

Although I just don't see Russia plotting to empire build like China.
China's got somethin' sinister cookin' IMO.

@headlopper - Well, you can count on commies to act like commies. As for Putin, that guy's as close to a real life bond villain as I've ever seen. I'd say he's a great man...but not a good one.

@Fogs

You're probably right, but it is known that he's not one for press conferences and premieres and whatnot. Who knows? It might have ended up as a "two birds, one stone" kind of deal.

@Otisburg

...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Seriously? I mean, he's an actor, not Captain America himself. If Russia had a problem with it, they wouldn't have showed the film or Captain America: The First Avenger for that matter.

@MassExecutions - After the USSR dissolved, Russian assets where up for grabs to all sorts of corrupt insiders. Yeltsin was incapable effectively establishing justice, so a hard line,former KGB chief used strong arm tactics to establish some moniker of order. He succeeded,but after a while became 'addicted' to the power of governing, and so has been unwilling to allow the country to take the next step in national growth. This has resulted in horrendous cronyism.

But Putin is no fool. He wants a strong Russia that has international respect. He isn't willing to act aggressively toward it's neighbor's or the USA. That's not his administrations intent. Which is why I think the State Dept. should foster a more friendly approach in diplomacy with Russia. They could be a strong alley.

@headlopper - Oh yeah, he's all kinds of smart. I don't think he's going to bomb anybody or anything all of a sudden...except may be Georgia...or Turkmenistan or something. But on the other hand I can't think of anything we could do that would keep him from selling arms and nuclear power plant part to the Syrians or Iranians. So you know, pros and cons.

That talk show was WEIRD!! It would be difficult to be on a show like that and not speak the language and rely on a translator in an ear piece to have a convo.

@headlopper - How about the stop selling to them FIRST, and THEN they can be a member. Trust, but verify, am I right?

Also, at the NATO table, they have to promise not to sit right next to Poland. It just makes people nervous.

I hope Marvel isn't opening this movie in Russia before it opens in America because it will be all over the internet the very next day!
headlopper

@MassExecutions- NATO holds the strong hand. Russia's the weaker party, so I say act in good faith, give them membership and thus the international respect they desire. If you isolate Russia, they will become resentful and feel they have something to prove to the west. But if they're member's ,they have to abide by the non-nuclear proliferation protocols.

Remember the old saying: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
If the Russian's were a member of NATO, they'd feel the honor of membership , and thus the responsibility of proving their value as members ,which would be a thing of national pride.

Hemsworth looks like he is already lost some of that muscle. Unfortunately he will have to start packing it on soon enough for Thor II. As for RDJ....that suit is giving me epileptic seizures.

mstaley3000
mstaley3000 - 4/17/2012, 4:31 PM
If you want to know why one Chris was present and another wasn't then check out the foreign box office. Thor made $16.5 Million and Captain America $8.6 million in Russia. Conversely, in Brazil Cap made $20.6 million and Thor made $17.8 Million and this pattern was repeated all over Central and South America with Cap beating Thor in every country there except for Venezuela. Taiwan was one of the only places outside of Central & South America where Cap had a better box office than Thor. I won't make any conclusions as to why this happened but Disney is sure aware of these things in their marketing.
